Portland Pilots Betting Preview
Portland opened up on a very good run this year but they’ve been struggling lately. The Pilots would win their first three appearances of the season, taking out Willamette, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and UC Davis in that trio. Portland hit a 1-3 stretch after that however, beating only Cal State Fullerton amid losses to Wyoming, Northern Colorado and Saint Thomas-Minnesota. The Pilots rebounded in their latest outing with a win over Long Beach State though, improving their record to 5-3 across the first eight games of the season.
In Wednesday’s matchup with Long Beach State, the Pilots came into the second half with a 42-35 edge. Portland closed on a 51-38 run from there, taking the eventual win 93-73 in the end. Topping the scorers were Joel Foxwell on 19 points, seven assists and five boards, along with Timo George with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Matus Hronsky added 16 points and James O’Donnell had 15 points with five rebounds in the winning effort.
Stanford Cardinal Betting Preview
Over on the Stanford side, they’ve been looking pretty decent so far this year. The Cardinal came out of the gate with four straight wins, taking out Portland State, Montana, Montana State and Louisiana in that quartet. Stanford would take their first loss of the season versus Seattle U on November 21, but then rebounded with a win over Minnesota in game six. That would give Stanford a solid 5-1 run across their first half dozen games this year.
Matched up against Saint Louis on Friday, the Cardinal were in trouble with a 47-36 deficit at the break. Stanford rallied in the second half though, posting a 42-30 run for a comeback win 78-77 in the end. Chisom Okpara finished with a team-high 19 points, six boards and three assists while Ebuka Okorie had 17 points with six assists and three rebounds. Jeremy Dent-Smith chipped in 12 points with five rebounds in 21 minutes of work on the floor for the Cardinal as well.

Portland vs Stanford Prediction
I might take a stab on Portland here. The Pilots posted a pretty solid all-around win versus a struggling Long Beach State team in their last appearance. Portland shot a stellar 70 percent from the field in that one with 6-of-12 from 3-point range and 17-of-19 (89.5 percent) from the line. The Pilots’ only real blemish in that 20-point victory was the 15 turnovers. Portland has sometimes been a mixed bag on the scoreboard this year; they’ve been below 68 points in three of their eight games but otherwise they’re doing pretty well offensively. Another good performance on Monday will put Portland in a promising spot.
As for Stanford, they didn’t play great against a tricky Saint Louis team on Friday but to their credit the Cardinal rallied and got the win. Stanford shot just 37.5 percent from the field and were outmuscled in the paint 36-22 but made up for it on 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from outside. The Cardinal have a nice 69 or more points in every game so far this year; they certainly can score.
