The Beavers got off to a promising start this year, taking sizable wins in their first four games. Those victories came courtesy of Utah Tech, Weber State, Western Oregon, and CSU Fullerton. Game five was a close loss versus Oregon, however.

Over on the North Texas side, they kicked off the season on a nice run as well. The Mean Green took out Evansville, Wayland Baptist, and Minnesota across their first three outings, then fell to McNeese State last Monday 68-61.
The Mean Green were able to get back into the win column versus Texas Wesleyan on Thursday. North Texas was in trouble with a four-point deficit at the break, then roared back on a 41-30 stretch for a 73-66 win. Atin Wright was the lead scorer with 19 points.

I’ll stay with Oregon State. The Beavers had Oregon in their crosshairs at halftime during their last outing but folded in the second half. Oregon State ultimately shot a measly 40.3 percent from the field and 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the line, but did have a 38-30 rebounding advantage (17-7 offensive). That makes 70 or more points in every game for the Beavers.
As for North Texas, they started slowly in their last outing but rallied in the second to an eventual 49.1 percent shooting and 28 rebounds. The Mean Green have been below 62 points in two of their last three games though, so if they can’t get moving quickly here the Beavers should be in control from wire to wire.
