The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the Michigan Wolverines meet Saturday in college basketball action from the Crisler Center. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies vs. Michigan Wolverines Prediction
I’m looking at Michigan here. This is a big number for an Oakland team that always schedules up in the non-conference portion of their schedule, but the problem for Oakland here is that Michigan is still super talented and this is a new look roster gaining chemistry on the fly. I’m not sure it’s as bad as the 43-point drilling from last year, but Oakland’s in deep water here. Give me Michigan in a beatdown.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies Team Preview
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies come into the 2026-27 season looking to rebound from a disappointing 2025-26 season where Oakland went 16-16 overall including a 12-8 mark in Horizon League Conference Play. The Golden Grizzlies would be bounced in the first round of the Horizon League tournament by Northern Kentucky, ending their season. The problem for Oakland is that this is a basically new roster with a lot of the key pieces from last year gone. The Grizz get a couple of solid transfers like Belal El Shakery from New Hampshire, who averaged 11.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG last season while Nathan Ahner and William Kassi are a solid pair of JUCO transfers for Greg Kampe in year #43 for the Grizzlies bench boss.
Check out tonight’s game between Chicago State and Texas.
Why the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will win
- The road team has won four of Oakland’s last five games.
- The road team has won the first half in 13 of Oakland’s last 15 games.
Michigan Wolverines Team Preview
The Michigan Wolverines come into this season looking to remain at the summit of college basketball after going 37-3 last season, finishing as Big Ten regular season champions but couldn’t win the conference title after falling to Purdue in the Big Ten title game. Michigan wouldn’t be denied in the tournament though, knocking off Howard, Saint Louis, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona and UConn in the national title game to win the national championship for the first time since 1989. Now the retool begins after Dusty May took the head coaching job in Dallas for the Mavericks, leaving the reigns to Mike Boynton who was Oklahoma State’s head coach until 2024 before accepting an assistant role under May. Michigan lost some pros like Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara, but bring back Elliot Cadeau to run the point and also brough in some size in the transfer portal in J.P. Estrella from Tennessee and Moustapha Thiam from Cincinnati.
Why the Michigan Wolverines will win

- Oakland has lost seven of its last eight night games against non-Conference opponents.
- Michigan has won the first half in each of its last 12 games at Crisler Center against non-AP-ranked opponents.
