Montana Grizzlies vs. Oregon Ducks Prediction
I’m on Montana and the points in this one. I’m just not a fan of Oregon to begin with, especially when you consider the coaching change and I don’t know what the Ducks are going to look like under Tony Stubblefield. Montana’s well coached, and this is just a new look Oregon team that isn’t as talented of a transfer class as we’ve seen past Oregon teams be in fairness. I think Montana could be live to win this game so give me the Grizzlies and the points here.
Montana Grizzlies Team Preview
The Montana Grizzlies come into the 2026-27 campaign looking to make some moves after going 18-16 in 2025-26, including a 10-8 mark in Big Sky conference play. As the 4-seed in the Big Sky tournament, Montana would knock of Northern Colorado and Portland State before falling to Idaho in the conference championship game. Travis DeCuire’s bunch lost a fair bit of their top end talent from 2025-26, but have filled the void by bringing in three top end D-II transfers in Jordan Clark (17.8 PPG, 3.9 APG), Jalen Brown (16.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG) and Josiah Sanders (14.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG). Last year’s transfers like Grant Kepley and Brooklyn Hicks didn’t pay off, but the upside is there for the Grizzlies to take a step forward in 2026-27.
Why the Montana Grizzlies will win
- Oregon has lost eight of its last 10 night games.
- Oregon has lost the first half in eight of its last nine night games.
Oregon Ducks Recap
The Oregon Ducks come into the 2026-27 season looking to leave 2025-26 in the rear view after a disappointing 12-18 mark overall including a 5-15 mark in Big Ten conference play. Dana Altman retired before the season started, leaving the reins to Tony Stubblefield, but the same principles of bringing in a new squad via the transfer portal remained after Oregon lost a lot of it’s talent from last season. Out goes familiar names like Nate Bittle and Jackson Shelstad, and in comes Fred Payne (15.8 PPG, 4.2 RPG) from Boston College, Tyrone Riley IV (12.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG) from San Francisco and Andrew Meadow (12.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG) from Boise State to help the cause. There are so many question marks with Oregon, from the chemistry of the new roster to how well the team takes to Stubblefield that it’s hard to project what we will see from Oregon this season.
Why the Oregon Ducks will win
- Oregon has won each of its last 19 games against non-Conference opponents at Matthew Knight Arena.
- Montana has lost six of its last eight games against non-Conference opponents.
- Oregon has won the first half in 16 of its last 17 games against the Big Sky Conference.
