Long Beach State

vs Montana State Prediction

I might take a stab on the Beach here. Long Beach State went into Salt Lake City this week and put up a solid effort on the road versus Utah. The Beach shot a middling 40 percent from the field and 61 percent (11-of-18) from the line alongside a 40-27 rebounding deficit, but kept themselves in the game with some distance shooting (40 percent on 10-of-25 from 3-point range) and just 10 turnovers. LBSU held the lead for the majority of the game, and they were up by 17 at one point. A few tweaks and they should at least be competitive in game two.

As for Montana State, they shot just 40 percent from the field as well in their opener loss versus Colorado State on Monday. The Bobcats added a 39-27 rebounding deficit and gave up 54 percent from the floor on defense. The Rams’ 86 percent (19-of-22) from the line helped seal Montana State’s fate. The Bobcats may match up a little better here but I still like LBSU to power one out.

Long Beach State Beach Betting Preview

The Beach had a pretty forgettable campaign in 2025-26, going just 10-22 overall with a 6-14 run in the Big West. That effort would put Long Beach State down pretty far in the standings, ahead of only UC Riverside and Cal State Bakersfield. The Beach limped down the stretch through a 10-game losing streak in January/February, failing to qualify for the Big West Tournament in the end.

This year the Beach opened things up against Utah at Jon M Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. Long Beach State fought valiantly in that one but eventually came up short during a 66-63 loss. Leading the scorers was McCaden Adams with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals. Yohann Sissoko added 15 points with five rebounds, two assists and five turnovers while Jaden Tengan had seven points in 15 minutes off the bench.

Montana State Bobcats Betting Preview

Over on the Montana State side, they didn’t fare too badly overall last year on an 18-14 record. The Bobcats went 12-6 in Big Sky games, putting the team one game behind Portland State in the standings. Montana State finished the regular season on a three-game win streak but then fell in the first game of the Big Sky Tournament 78-74 versus Idaho to end their campaign.

The Bobcats also have one game in the bag this year. That one was against Colorado State on Monday at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. Montana State didn’t play their best in that one and ended up losing 84-74. Leading the team was Jeremiah Davis with 17 points, five rebounds and four steals. Howie Keene put up 15 points and four rebounds in 27 minutes of work off the bench.
