Jacksonville vs Florida Prediction

I’ll lean toward Florida but I’m probably not going to touch it. This one will be a blowout in every sense of the word, and the final margin of victory will only be determined by the moment when the Gators enter slow-play mop-up mode in the second half. The Gators’ first test against a great Miami team this week went pretty well. Florida shot 43 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range with a 44-39 rebounding advantage. It wasn’t perfect, though; the Gators hit just 57 percent (20-of-35) from the line and had 12 turnovers. Still, it was a very nice win and game two should give us an extended look at the bench/roleplay guys.

As for Jacksonville, they didn’t have any issues with an overmatched Trinity Baptist team on Monday. The Dolphins shot 59 percent from the field with a 50-17 rebounding edge in the blowout win. This matchup will be a far different animal obviously, and we’ll have to wait a few games before we get a good idea of Jacksonville’s potential this season.

Jacksonville Dolphins Betting Preview

Last year the Dolphins had a pretty rough campaign. Jacksonville put up a rocky 12-20 overall record with a 7-11 result in Atlantic Sun Conference games. With that effort the Dolphins finished ahead of only Stetson, North Florida and North Alabama. Jacksonville finished off the regular season on a 3-2 run but lost the first game of the ASUN Tournament versus Bellarmine on March 4 to end their season for good.

This year Jacksonville opened up with a game versus Trinity Baptist at Swisher Gym on Monday. The Dolphins didn’t have too many issues in that one, cruising to a 105-61 blowout victory at home in front of the fans. Jacksonville’s leading scorer in the win was Jamie Phillips with 18 points, two boards and one assist. Nehemiah Turner added 16 points with four rebounds and two assists while James Morrow had 12 points and two boards alongside five blocks in 17 minutes of action on the floor.

Florida Gators Betting Preview

Over on the Gators’ side, they did pretty well last year, bagging a 27-8 run overall and a 16-2 record in a tough SEC for a regular-season championship. Florida got to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament where they would fall to Iowa in a season-ending defeat.

Florida had a pretty hefty test right out of the gate this year. The Gators took on No.14-ranked Miami on Monday at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa. Florida gave the over 15,000 fans in attendance a show, walking off with a 77-67 win in the end. Tops in scoring was Thomas Haugh with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Boogie Fland added 12 points with three rebounds, four steals and four assists while Alex Condon had 11 points and seven rebounds alongside three assists in the win.
