We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Georgetown vs Xavier pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview
Georgetown posted a pretty middling 9-10 overall record in their first 19 games this season. The Hoyas would then hit a four-game win streak over Providence, DePaul, Butler and Creighton. Since then it’s been five straight losses to Villanova, UConn, Butler, Seton Hall and Marquette. Over the first 28 games of the season that gives the Hoyas a 13-15 record in the books.
In their last game versus Marquette, the Hoyas were trailing by five points 40-35 going into the locker room at the break. Georgetown didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 35-25 run and took the loss in the end 76-60 on their home court. Leading the team in the losing effort was Vincent Iwuchukwu with 19 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Isaiah Abraham added 13 points and six boards.
Xavier Musketeers Betting Preview
Over on the Xavier side, they posted a sketchy 11-7 run in their first 18 games. The next three were losses to Creighton, Saint John’s and Seton Hall, then a win over DePaul. The next five outings were a 1-4 run with a win over Marquette in between losses to UConn, St. John’s, Villanova and Butler. Over the first 27 games of the year that made for a 13-14 record.
On Wednesday in the Providence matchup the Musketeers were in trouble by halftime, looking up at a 47-34 deficit on the scoreboard. Xavier got a little better from there on a 50-47 second-half run but still limped to the defeat 94-84 in the end. Roddie Anderson led the charge in the losing effort for the Musketeers with 27 points and six rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor.

Georgetown vs Xavier Prediction
I’ll lean toward Xavier but it’s a coin flip. The Musketeers couldn’t keep pace with a middling Providence team this week, despite shooting 50 percent from the field with just five turnovers and a 50-44 advantage on points in the paint. Xavier gave up 54.1 percent shooting on defense though, which is where most of the issues stemmed. The Musketeers are just 2-8 in the last 10 games and in desperate need of a shot in the arm.
These teams last saw each other back on December 20 in an 80-77 road win for the Musketeers. In that one Xavier shot 46.3 percent from the field and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the line. The Musketeers added a 43-33 rebounding advantage and just 40.4 percent shooting allowed on defense but did have 13 turnovers. Georgetown’s 25-of-43 (58.1 percent) at the line didn’t help their cause either.
