The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the Lipscomb Bisons meet Friday in ASUN Tournament college basketball action from Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. Here’s a Florida Gulf Coast vs Lipscomb prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida Gulf Coast vs Lipscomb pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.
Florida Gulf Coast Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles managed to go 8-13 over their first 21 games this year, then beat North Alabama and Jacksonville. After losses to Eastern Kentucky and Bellarmine came wins over North Florida, Stetson, Jacksonville and Central Arkansas. Losses to North Florida and Stetson came next then a victory in the ASUN Tournament versus North Alabama this week.
On Wednesday versus North Alabama in the first round of the ASUN Tournament, the Eagles were able to power out a 69-58 victory. Leading the team in scoring was JR Konieczny with 29 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Three other Florida Gulf Coast players chipped in 10 points apiece as well.
Lipscomb Bisons Betting Preview
Over on the Bisons’ side, they were sitting at 14-7 and had just come off a five-game win streak back on January 23. Lipscomb lost four of the next six versus Jacksonville, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas and Queens U. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run though, with wins over Bellarmine, North Alabama and Eastern Kentucky in that time. That gives the Bisons a 19-12 record.
In the Eastern Kentucky matchup last weekend, the Bisons came out of the locker room after halftime sporting a tight 42-41 edge. Lipscomb hit a 38-36 run the rest of the way and powered out the victory 80-77 on the road as the game came to a finish. Grant Asman paced the team with 17 points, five rebounds and five assists while Titas Sargiunas had 15 points and two boards.
FGCU vs Lipscomb Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Bisons. Lipscomb had a pretty pedestrian shooting outing in their road win over Eastern Kentucky last weekend though, hitting 42.9 percent from the field and just 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from the line. The Bisons added a 41-34 rebounding deficit but did score 14 points off 13 Colonels turnovers. Lipscomb is 3-1 in their last four games, scoring 73 or more in all of those matchups.
These teams saw each other twice this year, with Lipscomb taking both games: 84-77 on the road January 10 and 86-71 at home in the January 23 matchup. In that home game, Lipscomb managed to shoot well with 47.3 percent from the field, 54.1 percent (20-of-37) from outside and 87.5 percent (14-of-16) at the line. The 28-23 rebounding advantage and eight turnovers were helpful as well. The Bisons should be in control here, even in a neutral-court setting.
