Davidson vs Washington State Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Davidson. The Wildcats suffered some hefty turnover (like usual) in the offseason but the good news is that this program is pretty darn good at cultivating talent. Last season Davidson had to replace a whopping 85 percent of their scoring; this season it’s not nearly as bad. If the team can put together a strong defensive effort again (third in the A-10 among scoring defense) they’ll be looking pretty good.
As for Washington State, they’ll have their work cut out for them. The Cougars do have some intriguing transfers incoming though, like Ronnie Harrison (14.7 PPG at East Texas A&M), Sebastian Akins (5.3 PPG at Wake Forest) and Lazerek Harrison (20.8 PPG at Central Missouri). Washington State isn’t headed for the top of the standings but they could show some improvement if all goes well.

Davidson Wildcats Betting Preview
Davidson finished up last year with a reasonable record and actually outperformed their preseason expectations. The Wildcats landed at 20-14 overall with a 10-8 in Atlantic 10 matchups. That effort would put the team behind Saint Louis, VCU, Saint Joseph’s, Dayton and George Mason in the standings. Davidson lost to Saint Joseph’s in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney and to Oklahoma State in the First Round of the NIT.
This year, the Wildcats will be starting mostly from scratch in head coach Matt McKillop’s fifth year at the helm. Davidson retains just one starter from the 2025-26 season and their leading scorer is gone. That said, a nice core group featuring Josh Scovens, Sam Brown, Nick Coval and Ian Platteeuw are back in the fold.
Washington State Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Cougars’ side, they didn’t have the greatest season in 2025-26. Washington State limped to a pretty rough 12-20 overall record and went just 7-11 in West Coast Conference games. The Cougars finished ahead of only Portland, Loyola Marymount, San Diego and Pepperdine with that result, and lost to Portland in their first game of the conference tournament.
This year Washington State will get head coach David Riley back for his third season at the helm. It will also be their first year as returning members of the Pac-12 Conference. Unfortunately, the Cougars lose all five starters from last season’s squad and they’re looking at a tough uphill climb.
