California Golden Bears Betting Preview
The Golden Bears started out the year on a pretty nice run, winning 12 of their first 13 games. California then fell to Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Duke in the next five games. The Bears would hit a 4-2 run over the next six though, beating North Carolina, Stanford, Miami and Georgia Tech in that time. Over the first 24 games that gave the Bears a 17-7 record in the books.
In the Syracuse matchup on Wednesday the Golden Bears were in the locker room at halftime with a 35-35 tie. After a 43-43 run in the second, California headed to overtime. Following two extra periods the Golden Bears ended up falling on the road in a tough one 107-100. Dai Dai Ames led the team in the losing effort with 23 points, two rebounds and one assist in 44 minutes of work.
Boston College Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Eagles’ side, they were barely able to keep their heads above the .500 mark in their first 13 games, going 7-6 overall. Boston College won just two of the next 10 games, taking losses to Georgia Tech, NC State, Louisville, Clemson, Notre Dame, Virginia, Duke and Miami in that time otherwise. Over 23 games that would give Boston College a rough 9-14 overall record.
Matched up against Stanford on Wednesday the Eagles were all tied up 34-34 at the break. Boston College was outscored in the second half 36-30 and ended up with a loss on their home floor 70-64 as the game concluded. Boden Kapke put up 15 points and eight rebounds in the defeat while Fred Payne added 14 points with three boards and one assist in 35 minutes.

California vs Boston College Prediction
I’ll lean toward California. The Bears need a good bounce-back effort following a tough 2OT road loss to Syracuse this week, and Saturday is a solid spot to get it. Cal notched 45.5 percent shooting against the Orange with a 62-46 deficit in the paint, a 39-34 rebounding disadvantage and 14 turnovers. The Golden Bears gave up 53.5 percent shooting on defense as well. Cal has lost consecutive games now, but they’d gone 4-1 in the previous five before that pair.
As for Boston College, they couldn’t keep pace with Stanford in the second half of their loss at Conte Forum this week despite 45.8 percent shooting and a 40-32 edge in the paint. The Eagles only got to the line eight times (making six) and had 12 turnovers in that one. Boston College is riding a five-game losing streak, but to be fair they’ve played some pretty tricky teams in that time.
