Over on the Loyola side, they got off to a rough start this year as well, also going 4-5 overall. The Greyhounds’ losses were to Towson, NJIT, Fairfield, Duquesne and Kentucky. After more losses to Hampton, VMI, Mount St. Mary’s, George Mason, American, Lafayette, Bucknell and Colgate (with a lone win over Army), Loyola MD has a 5-13 record across their first 18 games of the year.

Matched up against Colgate on Wednesday the Greyhounds had a one-point deficit 33-32 going into the second half. Loyola MD was outscored 53-48 the rest of the way, so they never got closer in an eventual home loss 86-80. The Greyhounds’ Braeden Speed put up 20 points with 10 rebounds to lead the way, and Sebastien Emenalo added 19 points with five rebounds and one assist.

I’ll lean toward Boston but I’m probably staying away from this one. The Terriers couldn’t make the comeback in a home loss versus Lehigh this week, despite shooting a nice 53.3 percent from the field and 80.8 percent (21-of-26) from the line. Boston gave up 49.2 percent shooting from the field on defense and 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) from outside. The Mountain Hawks’ 20-of-23 (87 percent) from the line certainly helped their cause as well. Boston is still 2-1 in their last three games though, and they’ve scored 83 or more points in each of those outings.

As for Loyola MD, they shot a tepid 40.9 percent from the field in their loss to Colgate while giving up 50 percent on the other side. The Greyhounds are just 1-8 in their last nine games, giving up 70 or more points in every one of those outings. Boston should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one.
