UC San Diego Tritons Betting Preview
The Tritons have looked pretty great this year, with only a couple of instances of spotty runs. UC San Diego went 2-2 in their first four, then took out La Salle, James Madison, Toledo, La Verne, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Bakersfield, Idaho, Utah State, San Diego, Occidental, CSU Fullerton and Cal Poly. After losses to UC Irvine and UC Riverside in the next three, the Tritons beat UC Santa Barbara, CSU Northridge, Hawaii, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, CSU Bakersfield, UC Davis, Cal Poly, and Hawaii. That gives UC San Diego a 24-4 overall run so far this year.Â
In the Hawaii home rematch on Saturday, the Tritons came out of the locker room sporting a 42-17 advantage. UC San Diego kept it up in the second half with a 41-27 run and took the win in the end 83-44. Leading team scorer Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones posted 19 points with five boards, three assists, and two steals. Tyler McGhie added 17 points with three boards, and Nordin Kapic had 13 points with five rebounds and three assists.Â
Cal State Northridge Matadors Betting Preview
Over on the CSU Northridge side, they’ve also done pretty well this year outside of a couple of sketchy stretches of play. The Matadors went 7-4 over their first 11 with losses to St. Bonaventure, Montana, UC Riverside, and USC. After wins versus Chicago State, La Sierra, CSU Fullerton, and UC Davis, CSU Northridge lost to UC Irvine, CSU Bakersfield, and UC San Diego over the next five games. Since then it’s been wins over UC Santa Barbara, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Fullerton, Long Beach State, Cal Poly, UC Irvine, and UC Davis. That gives the Matadors a 20-7 overall record through the first 27 games of the 2024-25 campaign.Â
Matched up against UC Davis last weekend the Matadors were down by three points heading into the second half. CSU Northridge surged from there on a 41-35 stretch, taking the comeback win 65-62. Mahmoud Fofana led the team with 20 points, 13 boards and two steals. Marcus Adams added 19 points with seven boards, while Scotty Washington managed 14 points with five rebounds in 39 minutes of action during the victory.Â

UC San Diego vs Cal State Northridge PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with UC San Diego here, but it should be an interesting matchup. The Tritons demolished a middling Hawaii team in their last outing, holding the Warriors to just 26.8 percent shooting from the field and scoring 18 points off 12 turnovers. UCSD hit 50.9 percent on the other side and had a 40-32 rebounding advantage. It’s been a great scoring run for the Tritons lately; they’ve hit 81 or more points in five of the last six games (all wins).Â
UCSD won pretty easily the last time these teams met up, posting a 79-54 home result back on January 25. The Tritons scored 12 points off 17 Matadors turnovers in that one, though they likely won’t be able to rely on mistakes so heavily during this road rematch. Still, I think UCSD stays in control.Â
