UNC Asheville Bulldogs Betting Preview 

The Bulldogs were a bit shaky at the start of the season but they’ve evened things out very well since then. UNC Asheville lost to Alabama, Ohio, Central Arkansas, and George Mason in their first seven games, then hit a 7-2 stretch. Those victories came over St. Andrews Bluefield U, Western Carolina, North Florida, Virginia Lynchburg, Columbia International, and High Point. Since then it’s been another string of wins. UNC Asheville has taken out Presbyterian, USC Upstate, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, Radford, and Gardner-Webb again over the last seven outings, giving the Bulldogs a 17-6 overall run through 23 games. 

In the home rematch versus Gardner-Webb, the Bulldogs opened the game on a 35-35 run. UNC Asheville pulled away on a 43-35 stretch in the second and took the eventual win 78-70 in the end. Darryl Simmons put up 21 points with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Both Jamaine Mann (six rebounds) and Pharrell Boyogueno (six rebounds) chipped in with 12 points apiece, while Shahar Lazar had five points and one assist off the bench in 16 minutes. 

High Point Panthers Betting Preview

Over on the Panthers’ side, they’ve remained very consistent this year and are yet to lose consecutive games. High Point beat Coppin State, Jackson State, NC Central, UAB, American, Old Dominion, Hampton, and Pfeiffer in an 8-2 opening run. A 7-3 stretch with wins over North Texas, App State, Carolina U, Southern Illinois, Radford, Charleston Southern, and Gardner-Webb came after that. Since then it’s been wins over Presbyterian, USC Upstate, Winthrop, Presbyterian again and Radford, giving the Panthers a 20-5 record so far this season. 

Matched up against the Highlanders on Wednesday, the Panthers went into the second half with a four-point edge. High Point scored another 42 points from there on the way to a 78-75 win. Kezza Giffa led the team with 20 points, two boards and two assists in the victory. Chase Johnston added 14 points with three steals, while Kimani Hamilton had 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

UNC Asheville vs High Point Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Panthers. High Point didn’t play too badly against Radford in their latest road win this week—outside of the 13 turnovers for 14 Highlanders points, that is. The Panthers shot 56.5 percent from the field and 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) from 3-point range in that one, canning 16-of-18 (88.9 percent) from the line as well. During this current five-game win streak the Panthers have 77 or more points in each game. 

Back on January 4 the last time these teams got together, High Point took a 103-99 road loss. The Panthers’ main issue was turnovers in that one as well; they coughed up 10 for 14 Bulldogs points. Otherwise, High Point shot well (49.2 percent) overall and had a 40-34 rebounding edge. The Panthers should be more comfortable in the home rematch, and if they can control the mistakes this time I think they’ll be okay. That said, UNC Asheville is playing well themselves and should make for a very nice challenge.
