Fresno State Bulldogs Betting Preview
Fresno State has had a lot of issues in the record column so far this year. The Bulldogs have just one instance of consecutive wins, and that came all the way back in November. Fresno State opened on a 3-2 stretch with wins over Sac State, Prairie View, and Long Beach State. A losing streak versus Washington State, Cal Baptist, San Diego State, Santa Clara, and BYU came next, then a win over San Diego. The Bulldogs have won just one game since then over Air Force. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Cal Baptist, UNLV, New Mexico, Utah State, Colorado State, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado State, and Wyoming in succession during that time, giving the Bulldogs a rough 5-16 record through the first 21 outings of this season.Â
In their game against Wyoming on Tuesday, the Bulldogs came out of the break with a 31-30 deficit. Fresno State fought back to force overtime but eventually lost 83-72 after getting outscored 16-5 in the extra period. Jalen Weaver was the team’s top scorer in the losing effort, notching 23 points with six boards and two assists. Elijah Price doubled up on 11 points with 12 rebounds, and Alex Crawford chipped in nine options with 10 rebounds in 38 minutes.Â
Boise State Broncos Betting PreviewÂ
Over on the Boise State side, they got off to a great start through their first 14 games, but it’s been a mixed bag lately. The Broncos went 6-3 to begin the season, taking out Oakland, Corban College, Clemson, Hampton, South Dakota State, and Utah Tech with losses to San Francisco, Boston College, and Washington State. After wins over Saint Mary’s, Texas Southern, Air Force, San Jose State, and Wyoming, the Broncos hit a 3-4 run. Those wins were over UNLV, Wyoming, and Nevada. The losses came versus San Diego State, Utah State, New Mexico, and Colorado State, giving the Broncos a 14-7 overall record through their 21 outings.Â
Matched up against Nevada in Wednesday’s game, the Broncos held a modest four-point edge by the break. Boise State kept Nevada at bay from there on a 38-34 run and took the win 66-56 in the end. Tops in scoring was Alvaro Cardenas with 18 points, five assists, and two rebounds. Tyson Degenhart added 17 points with three rebounds and one assist as well.Â
Why the Boise State Broncos will win
- The home team has won each of Boise State’s last six games.
- Fresno State has lost 10 of its last 11 games against Conference opponents.
- Fresno State has lost the first half in seven of its last eight day games.
Fresno State vs Boise State PredictionÂ
I’ll lean toward Boise State. The Broncos are coming off a shaky statistical outing versus Nevada though, so it’d be nice to see them clean up their act on Saturday. Boise State shot just 40.8 percent from the field and 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) from the line in that one, but did score 16 points off 15 Wolf Pack turnovers. Boise State had been scoring well prior to that, with 72 or more points in four of their previous five outings.Â
As for Fresno State, they nearly pulled off a much-needed win over Wyoming in their latest outing but fell short in overtime (and didn’t shoot all that well). The Bulldogs are in for another tough matchup here, and I don’t think they’ll get close enough to cover in the end.Â
