Brown Bears Betting Preview
Brown does have one nice run of wins earlier in the season, however outside of that they’ve really struggled in the record column. The Bears opened on a 1-3 stretch with a lone win over New Hampshire amid losses to Siena, Maine, and Holy Cross. Six straight wins came after that as the Bears took out Sacred Heart, Canisius, Stony Brook, Vermont, Bryant, and Rhode Island. Since then, however, Brown is just 2-5 over their last seven outings. The two wins in that time came versus Johnson & Wales RI and Cornell. Otherwise, it was losses to Kansas, Kentucky, Yale, Harvard, and Dartmouth for a 9-8 overall record through the first 17 games of the year.
In the Dartmouth matchup on Saturday, the Bears logged a 52-40 edge by the break. Brown broke down in the second half however, posting a 44-31 deficit on the way to a rough loss of 84-83 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Alexander Lesburt with 21 points, four rebounds, and two seals in 31 minutes. Lyndel Erold came off the bench for 20 points with five rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes, while Kino Lilly chipped in 17 points with 10 assists for a double-double in the losing effort.
Penn Quakers Betting Preview
Over on the Penn side, they came out of the gate with a couple of wins, but they’ve only recently been able to notch consecutive victories since then. The Quakers took out NJIT and MD Eastern Shore in their first two games, then lost to Lafayette, Saint Joseph’s, Villanova, and Navy before another win over Maine. A 1-7 run ensued from there with a lone win over Rider amid losses to Elon, Drexel, VCU, George Mason, Penn State, Dartmouth, and Cornell. Since then, however, the Quakers have had a couple more wins in succession over Harvard and Columbia. The result so far has been a 6-11 overall record through 17 games this year.
In the Columbia matchup on Saturday, the Quakers came out of the locker room with a 44-42 edge. Penn was able to stay in front on a nice run 49-36 in the second half and took the eventual win 93-78. Leading the way in scoring was Sam Brown with 30 points, three boards, two assists, and two steals. Ethan Roberts posted 15 points with 10 rebounds and five assists, while George Smith added 14 points with four rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes.

Brown vs Penn Prediction
I’ll lean toward Penn, but I’m not touching this one. The Quakers are finally looking pretty good over the last couple of games, and they’re coming off a nice effort versus a decent Columbia team. Penn shot 50 percent from the field in that one with 21-of-26 (80 percent) from 3-point range and a 39-27 rebounding edge. The only real issue to complain about was the 15 turnovers for 14 Lions points. The Quakers have been scoring well lately with 70 or more points in five straight games.
As for Brown, they’ve hit 83 points in two straight games themselves. That said, the Bears have also given up 79 or more in four straight (a 1-3 run). Penn should have a decent shot here if they can clean up the mistakes and execute.
