Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers Betting Preview
Mount St. Mary’s got the season kicked off with a pretty solid run, and they’ve been able to stay fairly well above .500 for most of the year so far. The Mountaineers beat Notre Dame MD, Bucknell, and St. Francis PA (with a loss to Maryland) in their first four games during a 3-1 opener. It’s been a 6-4 stretch over the last 10 games for Mount St. Mary’s. The losses in that time were versus Georgetown, Marist, Loyola Maryland, and George Mason. Otherwise, it’s been wins over Delaware State, Howard, Fairfield, Long Island University, Miami, and Niagara for a 9-5 overall record on the year for the Mountaineers thus far.
In the Niagara game back on Sunday, the Mountaineers entered the locker room holding a dangerous 37-26 deficit and were in trouble. Mount St. Mary’s fought back well in the second though, hitting a 42-25 run the rest of the way for a 68-62 victory in comeback fashion. Leading the team in scoring was Carmelo Pacheco with 14 points, two rebounds, and three steals. Jedy Cordillia posted 12 points with four rebounds and three blocks, while Xavier Lipscomb added 10 points with five rebounds and four assists. Both Terrell Ard (four rebounds) and Arlandus Keyes (six rebounds; four assists) came off the bench for 11 points apiece as well.
Manhattan Jaspers Betting Preview
Over on the Manhattan side, they stumbled out of the gate this year but things have gotten slightly better since then as the Jaspers have climbed back above .500 overall. Manhattan hit a 3-4 stretch to open this year with wins over Mercy, Fordham, and Army mixed among losses to Maryland, Fairleigh Dickinson, Virginia, and Le Moyne. The last six games have been a 4-2 run with losses to only Marist and Siena. Otherwise, it’s been wins over Saint Peter’s, Wagner, Presbyterian, and Rider in that time for a 7-6 overall run for the Jaspers.
Matched up against Rider over the weekend, the Jaspers hit a 44-37 deficit in the first half. Manhattan came back in the second half on a 43-35 run for the victory 80-79 by the final horn, however. Both Mariah Gilyard (three rebounds) and Shaquil Bender (four rebounds; four assists) posted a team-high 18 points apiece, with Wesley Robinson adding 17 points with eight boards, two assists, and two steals. Will Sydnor added 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists while Devin Dinkins led the bench scoring five points and one assist.

Mount St. Mary’s vs Manhattan Prediction
I’m staying with Mount St. Mary’s here, but you could make a case either way. The Mountaineers shot pretty well in their latest comeback win over Niagara, with 47.8 percent from the field and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from outside. The 18 turnovers and limp 37-27 showing on the boards (12-2 offensive) nearly torpedoed their hopes, though. Still, Mount St. Mary’s has 68 or more points in five of the last six games (a 4-2 run), so if they can hit that threshold Friday the Mountaineers should be in good shape. Manhattan has hit 70 or more points in seven straight though, so Mount St. Mary’s is likely going to have to hit the gas early.
