Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Preview
This year the Panthers got started with a six-game win streak over Radford, Murray State, Gardner-Webb, West Virginia, VMI, and LSU. Pittsburgh is just 1-2 in the last three, however, falling to Wisconsin and Mississippi State around a win over Ohio State.
In the Mississippi State game on Wednesday, the Panthers were nuked 47-25 in the first half. Pittsburgh didn’t get any closer in an eventual 90-57 blowout loss. Leading scorer Jaland Lowe posted 19 points with four rebounds in the losing effort.

Over on the Virginia Tech side, they beat Delaware State, USC Upstate, and Winthrop over their first three outings. The Hokies have since lost to Penn State, Jacksonville, Michigan, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt in succession.
On Wednesday versus Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech trailed by five points going into the locker room. The Hokies were outscored 41-30 from there in an 80-64 loss. Mylyjael Poteat was the team’s top scorer with 14 points and seven boards in the defeat.

Pittsburgh vs Virginia Tech Prediction
I’ll stay with Pittsburgh. The Panthers need a good bounce-back showing after a pretty listless loss to Mississippi State, and this is a good spot to get it. Pittsburgh shot just 31.3 percent with a 49-27 rebounding deficit in the loss to the Bulldogs, leading to a season-low in points (57). Prior to that the Panthers had hit 74 or more points in eight straight games.
As for Virginia Tech, they did well on the boards (37) in their loss to Vanderbilt but also shot just 38.3 percent from the field and had 15 turnovers. The Hokies have scored fewer than 65 points in six straight games now, and they’ve given up 70 or more points in five straight (all losses). Pittsburgh really needs to get that shooting percentage back up on Saturday, as the Panthers may well be overmatched on the boards otherwise.
