The expectation level isn’t too high, as South Carolina was picked to finish in 11th place among the conference in the preseason media poll. The good news is that LaNorris Sellers is back, and wide receiver Nick Harbor should make a big impact. There’s plenty of turnover on the offensive line and with the running backs, though.

Kent State vs South Carolina Prediction

I was going to go with South Carolina, but the line seems thick enough for the Flashes. Most pundits agree that the Gamecocks’ biggest issue this year is in establishing the running game. All the new pieces need to gel in order for that attack to work, but if it does it’ll take a lot of heat off Sellers and the pass. The defense should be pretty good though, and the Gamecocks will have a solid pass rush if all goes well.

As for Kent State, they’ve got a bit of expectation in tow as they enter the 2026 season. The Flashes do have some great pieces on the roster though, including names like Da’Realyst Clark, Terik Mulder and Rocco Nicholl. Newcomer Lennox Lemon should be a guy to watch, and Shamaz Bridgemond comes in from Michigan State to help matters. All of that said, Kent State’s schedule isn’t going to do them any favors.
