In this article we will formulate a Central Michigan vs Pittsburgh prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 6th at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 2 matchup.

Central Michigan Chippewas Betting Preview

The Central Michigan Chippewas are 1-0 this season after they defeated San Jose State by a score of 16-14 on Friday night. Central Michigan led 10-0 after the first quarter and 13-7 at the half, but they trailed 14-13 after three quarters. The Chippewas did take a 16-14 lead in the fourth quarter and they were able to survive two late field goal attempts to get the win. Central Michigan was out gained by a total of 383-340, went 2-13 on third down conversions, and won the turnover battle by a total of 3-0. Angel H Flores went 3-3 for 59 yards, while Joe Labas went 5-10 for 56 yards in the win. Nahree Biggins rushed 18 times for 102 yards, while Tommy McIntosh caught two passes for 61 yards in the game. The CMU defense was led by Kalen Carroll and Dakota Cochran, who both had seven tackles, while the defense had one sack and three tackles for loss.

Central Michigan was a pretty big underdog going into their first game against San Jose State, but they were able to control time of possession and protect the football for the win. The Chippewas weren’t great offensively, but they did enough to get 16 points, while the defense played very well, especially against the run.

Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Preview

The Pittsburgh Panthers are 1-0 this year after they defeated Duquesne by a score of 61-9 last week. Pittsburgh led 14-0 after the first quarter and they led 34-6 at halftime. The Panthers scored 14 more points in the third quarter and cruised to the easy victory in the fourth. Pittsburgh out gained Duquesne by a total of 460-212, went 5-14 on third down conversions, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 1-0. Eli Holstein went 15-23 for 215 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, while Cole Gonzales also threw a touchdown pass. Desmond Reid rushed eight times for 66 yards and one score, while Bryce Yates caught two passes for 69 yards and one touchdown in the game. The Pitt defense was led by Kyle Louis, who recorded six tackles, while the team had four sacks and 10 tackles for loss.

Pittsburgh flexed their muscle early against Duquesne and they won easily, but that game didn’t give us much insight on the team this year. The Panthers should be very solid defensively once again this season, but Holstein needs to protect the football and stay healthy.

Central Michigan vs Pittsburgh Prediction

Central Michigan will come into this matchup with some confidence after their upset win last week, but this is a noticeable increase in difficulty. We saw the Chippewas struggle to move the ball against SJSU in their last game and it will be even harder to do so here. Pittsburgh’s offense looked very strong last week and I think Central Michigan’s defense has some holes, so I expect another big day for Pitt. I would love to say Central can find magic two weeks in a row, but I just don’t think they are good enough offensively. Take Pittsburgh to cover in this contest.

David Racey's Pick: Pittsburgh -21.5
