Eli Holstein went 15-23 for 215 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception, while Cole Gonzales also threw a touchdown pass. Desmond Reid rushed eight times for 66 yards and one score, while Bryce Yates caught two passes for 69 yards and one touchdown in the game. The Pitt defense was led by Kyle Louis, who recorded six tackles, while the team had four sacks and 10 tackles for loss. 

Pittsburgh flexed their muscle early against Duquesne and they won easily, but that game didn’t give us much insight on the team this year. The Panthers should be very solid defensively once again this season, but Holstein needs to protect the football and stay healthy.

Central Michigan will come into this matchup with some confidence after their upset win last week, but this is a noticeable increase in difficulty. We saw the Chippewas struggle to move the ball against SJSU in their last game and it will be even harder to do so here. Pittsburgh’s offense looked very strong last week and I think Central Michigan’s defense has some holes, so I expect another big day for Pitt.
