Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles have won double-digit games in each of the last 4 years, and have made the playoffs in 5 straight years. Through in 2 Super Bowl titles since 2017, the Eagles have been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL over the last decade.
The offense will have a scheme change under OC Sean Mannion, and AJ Brown is no longer around. The Eagles’ offensive line is still arguably the best in the league, and running back Saquon Barkley remains a superstar. The real Jalen Hurts needs to please stand up, as he’s been shaky a lot lately, and we’ll see if wide receiver DeVonta Smith is capable of stepping up as the first option. When you have a fantastic offensive line, the offense has no choice but to be successful.
The defensive side is stable under Vic Fangio. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean hold down the secondary while a defensive line led by Jalen Carter is disruptive. The Eagles have been a top-5 scoring defense in each of the last two seasons, and I don’t expect much to change with a lot of leadership still in place. At their best, the Eagles are legit Super Bowl contenders.
Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview
The Ravens won just 8 games last year, missing the playoffs for the second time since 2018. Baltimore now begins the Jesse Minter era, a 43-year-old with just one game of head coaching experience.
Offensively, the Ravens will go as far as Lamar Jackson takes them. A two-time MVP and elite playmaker, Jackson has to stay healthy and make the throws necessary to get over the hump. Derrick Henry still has a lot left in the tank, and a receiver duo of Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman has the potential to be special. The offensive line is rebuilt, and first-round pick Vega Ioane will be thrown into the fire right away.
Defensively, there’s too much talent for this Ravens group to be as average as it was last season. Roquan Smith is an elite-level linebacker, and Kyle Hamilton is one of the best defensive players regardless of position. The addition of Trey Hendrickson obviously is a massive boost up front. Anthony Weaver is a no-nonsense coach who should bring out better production from this group.
Baltimore Ravens vs Philadelphia Eagles Prediction
Those who have followed me over the years know my handicapping in preseason is all about the quarterback position. The rest of the positions are toss-ups, and you have no idea who is going to play nd for how long. The one constant thing is decent quarterback play and the guys who can put points on the board.
The Eagles have experience in their quarterback room behind Hurts, with Andy Dalton obviously, but Tanner McKee has seen some reps in NFL games as well. However, I’d argue Huntley is the better current option, and he’s thrived in Baltimore in the past. In a league full of garbage backup quarterbacks, you can argue Huntley is one of the better options. I don’t love what’s after him, but Joe Fagnano did light it up at Connecticut of all players, with 48 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions. We’re also getting a hook on top of a key number. Give me the Ravens.
