The New Orleans Saints haven’t gotten talked about a ton this offseason and maybe that’s because they didn’t make a quarterback change. Derek Carr is the starter for this team, but it doesn’t seem to appear that he’s going to play a lot of time here. Jake Heaner has missed the last couple of practices, but he was back on Wednesday, and it looks like he should be good to go in this game, and I would expect plenty of playing time here. Spencer Rattler is third on the depth chart and fans should be excited to see if he can make a move to really push for that backup spot. Juwan Johnson is hurt, so there are going to be some young tight ends that are going to get plenty of playing time. 

Cardinals Expected to Rest Plenty

The Cardinals are expected to rest plenty of players in this game, and a ton of young players are going to get plenty of playing time. It’s already been announced that quarterback Kyler Murray isn’t going to play at all during the preseason. Desmond Ridder and Clayton Tune are listed behind him on the depth chart. Tune was a standout at Houston and believes he has what it takes to be the backup quarterback here. At running back, James Connor isn’t expected to play and that is going to leave plenty of reps for guys like Trey Benson, Michael Carter, and Tony Jones. In this game, the defense is going to need to try to create a couple of turnovers to really try to put the pressure on.

This game is basically a pick ’em, and much like most of the preseason games, it’s going to come down to the quarterback play. I trust the backups behind Carr a little more, and I don’t expect the Cardinals defense to find much success. The Saints’ offense is going to have no issue running up the score here, and that is going to be the difference here. Back the Saints against the spread.
