The Dallas Mavericks play host to the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center in a Texas showdown on Saturday night.
Dallas Mavericks Betting Preview
The Dallas Mavericks really needed to respond after getting humbled in their season opener and they certainly did that last night when they ran past the Pacers in a 121-105 road win. Kyrie Irving led the team with 24 points on eight of 15 shooting, PJ Washington added 20 points with 13 rebounds and three blocks while Max Christie chipped in with 16 points on seven of 14 shooting. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 44 points in the first quarter and they kept their foot on the gas until the lead ballooned to 37 points, allowing them to rest their stars early.
San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have yet to get going this season as they are now hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting stopped by the Rockets in a 114-110 home defeat last night. Victor Wembenyama led the team with 25 points and 13 rebounds, Dylan Harper added 20 points, De’Aaron Fox tallied 19 points with nine assists while Stephon Castle chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they battled hard to take a lead late in the fourth quarter until they went ice-cold and got outscored by 11-6 in the final 3:49 to allow the Rockets off the hook.
Dallas v San Antonio Free Prediction
The Mavericks are going to be shorthanded again with Cooper Flagg, Dereck Lively II, Jett Howard and Caleb Martin all ruled out, while the Spurs could have Tobias Harris in action for the first time. The Mavericks must be feeling good following last night’s big win over the Pacers, but they don’t have time to celebrate as they visit a Spurs team struggling for form. You couldn’t back the Spurs without any reservations, but they haven’t had to travel and are taking on the Mavericks who are missing a bunch of players. The line is hefty for a struggling team, but this looks like an ideal spot for the Spurs to bounce back and get their season started.
