November 18, 2024 at 07:30 PM EST
The Line: Betting Odds: Miami Heat -2.5 — Over/Under:
Philadelphia 76ersÂ
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in dreadful form as they’ve lost 10 of their first 12 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game slide after getting routed by the Magic in a 98-86 road defeat on Friday. Jared McCain led the team in scoring with 29 points on 10 of 17 shooting, Joel Embiid added 20 points with eight rebounds while Paul George chipped in with 13 points and five assists but no other player scored more than five points. As a team, the 76ers shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a decent start and played well enough to take the narrow lead into halftime, but they went cold when it mattered most, scoring just 14 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Magic to pull away at home.
Miami HeatÂ
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after falling short to the Pistons in a 119-110 road defeat last night. Tyler Herro drained seven 3-pointers to lead the way with 28 points, Bam Adebayo added 24 points with eight rebounds while Duncan Robinson chipped in with 20 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot just 40 percent from the field and 19 of 43 from the 3-point line which was good enough to stay within striking distance, until the second half where the Pacers poured in 67 points to put the Heat away. Terry Rozier had a quiet game of just nine points on four of 12 shooting while Haywood Highsmith finished scoreless on zero of six shooting.Â
Why the Miami Heat will win
- The 76ers have lost eight of their last nine games.
- The Heat have won each of their last five home games against 76ers teams that held a losing record.
- The Heat have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games as favorites against Eastern Conference opponents following a loss.
- The 76ers have failed to cover the spread in each of their last five games against teams that held a losing record.
Total Points Facts
- Six of the Heat’s last seven night games on the second leg of a back-to-back have gone UNDER the total points line.
- Four of the 76ers’ last five games against Eastern Conference opponents have gone UNDER the total points line.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Miami Heat Prediction
The 76ers are going to be shorthanded again with Tyrese Maxey ruled out and Joel Embiid listed as questionable, while the Heat are still missing Jaime Jacquez Jr and Jimmy Butler. Here we have two of the more disappointing teams in the league; the 76ers are banged up and really struggle for consistency and you could say the same about the Heat who have yet to hit their stride despite being relatively healthy. You couldn’t back either team with any confidence this season, but with the line so short, I will take a shot with the Heat to get the much-needed win at home.
