The Orlando Magic and the Phoenix Suns duke it out at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Thursday night.

Orlando Magic Betting Preview

The Orlando Magic have really struggled to get going this season as they’ve won just two of their first seven games and they are now on a two-game losing streak after falling short against the Wizards in a 103-94 loss on Monday. Franz Wagner led the team with 24 points and six assists on 10 of 18 shooting while Desmond Bane added 20 points on eight of 17 shooting, but no other player scored more than 10 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 46 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line which was good enough to keep pace with the Wizards in a closely contested first half, but they were ice-cold coming out of the halftime break and scored a season-low nine points in the third quarter to allow the Wizards to pull away. Wendell Carter Jr had a quiet game of just six points while Jevon Carter scored just five points on two of seven shooting off the bench.

Phoenix Suns Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost five of their first six games and they are now looking to avoid a fifth straight defeat after getting routed by the Trail Blazers in a 132-119 home loss last night. Devin Booker led the team with 33 points on nine of 19 shooting, Jalen Green added 22 points, Miles Bridges scored 18 points with seven rebounds and five assists while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Suns shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line, but they let themselves down on the defensive end and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing 43 points in the second quarter. Things didn’t get much better in the second half where the Suns trailed by as many as 22 points before they finished with a late flurry to bring some respectability to the final score.

Orlando v Phoenix Free Prediction

The Magic are still missing Paolo Banchero, Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac and Noah Penda, while the Suns have ruled out Mark Williams and Jordan Goodwin again. The Magic have really struggled to win with two of their best players sidelined by injury, but Wagner and Bane have been stepping up which might be enough to take down the ice-cold Suns who are playing their second game of a back to back set. The Suns will turn things around sooner or later as they’re relatively healthy but they have been allowing opponents to score 124.3 points per game which ranks dead last in the NBA. These teams have split their last 10 meetings, but interestingly, the Magic are 9-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The Suns are still slight favorites at home, but with the Suns’ defensive woes, I prefer a play on the Magic to escape with the minor upset.
