On April 21, 2025, the New York Knicks will host the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden for Game 2 of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series. The Knicks lead the series 1-0 after a 123-112 victory in Game 1, where they executed a decisive 21-0 run in the fourth quarter. Jalen Brunson led with 34 points, supported by Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, and Cameron Payne.

The Pistons, returning to the playoffs for the first time in six years, are looking to bounce back after committing 19 turnovers in the opener. Cade Cunningham, who averaged 30.8 points and 8.3 assists against the Knicks during the regular season, remains a key player for Detroit.

Jalen Brunson Over 28.5 Points

Jalen Brunson is averaging 26.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of 49.0%. Brunson’s scoring efficiency is further highlighted by his shooting metrics: he connects on 2.3 three-pointers per game at a 38.4% clip and maintains a free throw percentage of 82.5%. His true shooting percentage stands at an impressive 60.6%, underscoring his effectiveness as a scorer. I made the mistake of taking the under on Brunson’s points in game 1, and I’m not making that mistake again. We saw him score 34 in game 1, and he just seems to kick it into another gear when playing in the postseason.

Tobias Harris Over 14.5 Points

Tobias Harris is averaging 13.7 points per game during the 2024–25 NBA season. He also contributes 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.7%. His consistent shooting efficiency has been a valuable asset to the Pistons’ offense. Harris is one of the only guys on this Detroit roster who has meaningful playoff experience. We saw him have a great game, scoring the ball in game 1, finishing the game with 25 points. If the Pistons want to have a chance in this series, Harris will need to continue to be a focal point in this offense.

Cade Cunningham Over 5.5 Rebounds

Cade Cunningham, the point guard for the Detroit Pistons, is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game over 70 games in the 2024–25 NBA season. This includes approximately 0.8 offensive rebounds and 5.3 defensive rebounds per game. Cunningham’s rebounding performance is notable for a guard, contributing significantly to the Pistons’ overall rebounding efforts. His ability to secure defensive rebounds helps initiate fast breaks and maintain the team’s tempo. Offensively, his presence on the boards provides additional scoring opportunities. He finished game 1 with 6 rebounds. Cunningham will have to play an ample amount of minutes in this series if the Pistons want to stay competitive.
