Elly has continued to be one of baseball’s premier young talents. In 81 games and 311 at-bats, he’s slashing .277/.351/.511 for an .862 OPS, with 18 home runs, 55 RBIs, 64 runs, 34 walks, 2 HBPs, 89 strikeouts, and 21 stolen bases. Impressively, he’s consistent against both righties (.289/.325/.526) and lefties (.160/.222/.280), though his splits still favor right-handed pitching. He’ll be going up against right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill, who has had some decent outings as of late, but I think he struggles in this ballpark. De La Cruz logged 4 total bases on Wednesday. I see him carrying that momentum into this one.

Atlanta Braves vs Athletics 9:05 PM EST

Matt Olson has appeared in 89 games with 333 at-bats, slashing .267/.368/.489 for an excellent .858 OPS. He’s recorded 89 hits, including 23 doubles and 17 home runs, driving in 58 runs while scoring 49 times. His plate discipline remains strong, drawing 53 walks against 91 strikeouts. When I saw this matchup, I wanted to target the Braves’ leading home run hitter, and that’s Olson. The balls fly out of this ballpark. He’ll be going up against JP Sears, who just doesn’t look like the same pitcher from last season. Once Sears finishes his job, the Athletics’ bullpen will be activated, which will open up even more opportunities for Olson.
