Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview
In Thursday’s opener matchup, the Orioles posted a great effort on offense. Baltimore scored three runs in three different innings on the way to 14 team hits in a 12-2 blowout victory. Adley Rutschman posted three hits, three runs, three RBI, and two homers, while Cedric Mullins had three hits, five RBI, and two homers of his own.
On Friday in game two, Baltimore didn’t quite have the mojo going. The O’s were out-hit 14-3 and committed a pair of errors in an 8-2 loss. Jackson Holliday posted two hits with a solo homer, and Ryan O’Hearn had the other hit. Charlie Morton gave up four earned on seven hits and a walk in 3.1 innings as a starter.
In the starting pitcher role for Saturday, the O’s will roll with Dean Kremer. This spring, Kremer went 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA in five games (three starts), posting 21 Ks in 17.1 innings. Kremer is coming off an 8-10 record and a 4.10 ERA over 24 games in 2024. In his career, Kremer is .500 at 30-30 with a 4.28 ERA in 95 games (94 starts). The Orioles will take on the Red Sox after this series.
Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview
Over on the Jays’ side, they couldn’t get much going in any capacity during Thursday’s opener. Toronto was out-hit 14-4 in the blowout defeat, with Andres Gimenez logging the only two RBI with a homer. Starter Jose Berrios had a bad day, pitching 5.0 innings and six earned runs.
In Friday’s game, Toronto had one big inning in the fourth, where the team carded a whopping five runs. Five different players bagged multiple hits in the victory, and Ernie Clement provided a pair of RBIs.
As a starter for Saturday, the Jays will send out Max Scherzer. In four starts this spring, Scherzer did well with a 1-0 record and a nice 1.38 ERA. Last year, Scherzer put up a 2-4 record with a 3.95 ERA in nine starts. He struck out 40 batters in 43.1 total frames. In his regular-season career, Scherzer is 216-112 with a 3.16 ERA in 466 games (457 starts). The Blue Jays will play against the Nationals following this one.

Orioles vs Blue Jays Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Jays. It’ll be interesting to see what happens here as the Max Scherzer era begins in Toronto. He’s coming off his first losing season since 2009 (9-11 with the Diamondbacks) and didn’t get to see much action last season with the Rangers (nine starts). Needless to say, if Scherzer can stay healthy—and effective—it’ll be a huge lift to Toronto’s rotation. Kremer should be able to hold the proverbial fort on the other side, though, and if he can keep things manageable on the scoreboard, the O’s should be in range down the stretch.
Toronto got things started Friday with a nice outing from starter Kevin Gausman, who went 6.0 frames with two earned on two hits and a walk alongside four Ks. The offense did the rest in a very nice overall evening for the bats. The Jays’ hitters will have a pretty interesting challenge on the other side in this one, but if the offense stays hot, the sky’s the limit.
