The Cincinnati Bearcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers will meet Saturday afternoon in a Big 12 Conference matchup at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Cincinnati Bearcats Betting Preview

The Cincinnati Bearcats enter Saturday’s matchup with a 4-1 overall win-loss record (4-0 record at home, 0-1 mark on the road). Cincinnati opened the season with four consecutive victories before suffering the team’s first loss of the season last week.

The Cincinnati offense has been productive through five games played in 2026. The Bearcats are averaging 33.8 points per game while generating 427.6 total yards per contest. Cincinnati has accumulated 196.8 passing yards and 230.8 rushing yards per game this season.

Turning our attention to the Bearcats defense, Cincinnati has allowed 23.2 points and 401.6 total yards per game. Looking at the data just presented more closely, the Bearcats have struggled defending opposing passing attacks, allowing 260 passing yards per contest which ranks an abysmal 112th in the nation. Cincinnati will need to improve defensively if the team hopes to win Saturday afternoon’s matchup with the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Through five games played in 2026, senior quarterback J.C. French has compiled 949 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, 193 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns illustrating his dual threat ability. Running back Gi’Bran Payne has amassed 392 rushing yards, while wide receiver JaVonnie Gibson has accumulated 18 receptions, 267 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview

The West Virginia Mountaineers enter Saturday’s contest with a 3-3 overall record (2-2 record at home, 1-1 mark on the road). The Mountaineers have lost three consecutive games, including a 52-31 loss to the Arizona Wildcats last week.

The West Virginia offense has been one of the best rushing attacks in college football. The Mountaineers are averaging 36.3 points and 480.3 total yards per game, including 295.5 rushing yards per contest, which ranks fourth nationally.

West Virginia’s primary weakness has been an inconsistent defense. Let me be more specific. The Mountaineers are allowing 32.7 points and 460.8 total yards per game. The West Virginia Mountaineers are surrendering 297 passing yards per contest which ranks 130th in the country.

Quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. has compiled 1,055 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, 672 rushing yards and a massive 12 rushing touchdowns. Running back Cam Cook has been outstanding, accumulating 793 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns through six games, while senior wide receiver DJ Epps has tallied 14 receptions, 393 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Why the Cincinnati Bearcats will win.

• Quarterback play. Senior quarterback J.C. French has compiled 949 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, 193 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns

• Rushing attack. The Bearcats are averaging 230.8 rushing yards per game.

• Recent success. The Cincinnati Bearcats have won four of the team’s last five games.

Why the West Virginia Mountaineers will win.

• Home field advantage. The Mountaineers will play this game in Morgantown. West Virgina has compiled a 2-2 win-loss record at home in 2026.

• Elite rushing offense. West Virginia is averaging 295.5 rushing yards per game, fourth-best in the nation.

• Offensive production. The West Virginia Mountaineers are averaging a whopping 36.3 points per contest.

• Individual talent. Cam Cook has rushed for 793 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Cincinnati Bearcats vs. West Virginia Mountaineers Prediction

In my opinion, the way to go in this matchup is the total rather than the side. Why? Both teams have been highly effective running the football. West Virginia ranks fourth nationally with 295.5 rushing yards per game, while Cincinnati is averaging 230.8 rushing yards per contest. Just as important, neither defense has shown the ability to consistently stop quality offenses. The Mountaineers are allowing 32.7 points and 460 total yards per game, while Cincinnati is surrendering more than 400 yards per contest. Additionally, West Virginia has allowed 41 or more points in three consecutive games. I envision a high scoring contest where both teams find success moving the football. With that said, I am backing the over 61.5 points in this game.
