Villanova Wildcats Betting Preview
The Wildcats had a shaky run going back in January and February, but outside of that, they’re doing fairly well this year. Villanova did open on a spotty 3-4 run before rattling off eight wins in their next nine games though (taking a lone loss to Creighton during that time). The Wildcats would lose five of their next six games versus St. John’s, Xavier, Georgetown, Marquette, and Creighton, then recovered with wins over DePaul, Xavier, and St. John’s. After wins over Providence and UConn, Villanova has since taken out Marquette, Seton Hall, and Butler in the last three, giving the team an 18-12 overall run through 30 games so far this year.
In the Butler matchup on Saturday, the Wildcats came out of the break with a 43-35 edge. Villanova hit a 37-35 advantage the rest of the way, resulting in an 80-70 victory in the end. Eric Dixon was the team’s leading scorer with 34 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jordan Longino added 14 points with two rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes of work, and Wooga Poplar chipped in with 12 points and nine boards with four assists.
Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview
Over on the Georgetown side, they were looking great in early January, but since then it’s been a pretty rough run of games. The Hoyas opened on a 12-2 stretch with losses to only Notre Dame and West Virginia. Losses came in five of the next six versus Marquette, UConn, St. John’s, DePaul, Providence, and St. John’s again. Since then it’s been a 3-5 stretch over the last eight games. Those wins were over Butler, Seton Hall, and Providence. Otherwise, the Hoyas fell versus Xavier, Butler, Creighton, UConn, and Marquette during that time. That gives Georgetown a 16-13 record across their first 29 games of the 2024-25 campaign.
Matched up against Marquette in their Saturday game, the Hoyas posted a 39-22 deficit in the first half. Georgetown got better from there on 39 points but still lost 76-61 at home. Micah Peavy led the team with 15 points and six rebounds. Jordan Burks doubled up in the loss with 11 points, 10 boards, and two steals, while Curtis Williams provided 14 points and three boards off the bench.

Villanova vs Georgetown Prediction
I’ll probably try Villanova in this one. The Wildcats did a pretty solid job versus a middling Butler team in their latest win, shooting a nice 50.8 percent from the field with 36 rebounds, 17 team assists, and just six turnovers. Villanova held the Bulldogs to just 40 percent shooting on the other side as well. That makes three straight wins for the Wildcats, with 80 or more points in two of those.
Villanova took a 64-63 loss at home the last time these teams met up back on January 20. The Wildcats got off to a pretty solid start in that one but faltered late on the way to 40 percent shooting and 16 turnovers for 16 Hoyas points. Outside of that the Wildcats did well though, posting a 41-30 rebounding edge and holding Georgetown to just 36.2 percent shooting. I think Villanova has a good shot in the road rematch.
