Portland vs TX-Arlington Prediction

I’ll probably lean slightly toward TX-Arlington but you could call this one either way. Both teams are coming off blowout wins versus overmatched teams in their openers, and this game will give us a better idea as to where each squad stands in the first week of the season. UT-Arlington rolled right past UNT Dallas on Monday, hitting 47 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range alongside a 64-38 rebounding advantage. UT-Arlington held the opposition to just 23 percent shooting overall as well. There are a couple of relative gripes though: specifically a 60 percent (12-of-20) effort from the line and 12 turnovers. That said, the Mavs did what they were supposed to do.

As for Portland, they demolished Willamette in their season opener this week. The Pilots shot a ridiculous 70 percent from the field and 56 percent (10-of-18) from outside while owning the boards 56-22. Still, Portland was pretty sloppy overall with 24 turnovers. You can attribute at least some of that to bench players in garbage time, but most of the roster had their fair share. In any case, I can see game two being a great matchup if both teams play to their capabilities.

Portland Pilots Betting Preview

Last season the Pilots had a fairly middling record overall at 15-19 and went just 6-12 in West Coast Conference matchups. Portland landed ahead of only Loyola Marymount, San Diego and Pepperdine with that effort. The Pilots did pretty well in the WCC Tournament though, taking out Pepperdine and Washington State before a third-round loss to San Francisco that send them home for good.

Portland opened up their 2026-27 campaign on Monday with a matchup at Chiles Center versus Willamette. The Pilots rolled to a dominant 133-89 victory in that one. Leading the team was Timo George, who came off the bench for 19 points, six rebounds and two assists in 13 minutes of work. James O’Donnell added 18 points with 10 boards for a double-double.

TX-Arlington Mavericks Betting Preview

Over on the TX-Arlington side, they did a little better overall last year at 18-14 but struggled a bit in the Western Athletic Conference with a 9-9 outcome. UT-Arlington finished behind Utah Valley, Cal Baptist and Utah Tech at season’s end. In the WAC Tournament, the Mavericks beat Southern Utah before a semifinals loss to Utah Valley.

This year the Mavericks’ first game came on Monday against UNT Dallas at College Park Center. TX-Arlington didn’t have too many issues in that one and took a big win 89-56 as the clock wound down. Topping the scoring was Noah Shelby with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists. Teodor Simic was the leading bench scorer with 16 points, nine rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes on the floor during the win.
