Texas State Bobcats Betting Preview
The Bobcats managed to post a .500 run over their first 18 games and were sitting at 9-9 in early January. Texas State went 2-2 over the next four outings with losses to Coastal Carolina and James Madison, then hit a nice win streak over Marshall, Old Dominion, Georgia Southern, Western Michigan, Troy and Louisiana-Monroe. That would give the Bobcats a 17-11 record through 28 games.
In game 29 on Thursday versus South Alabama, the Bobcats were looking good on a 40-33 edge by the end of the first half. Texas State was outscored 42-35 after that though, and had to go to overtime to settle a 90-82 victory on the road. DJ Hall was tops on 24 points with eight boards and two steals while Franck Emmou added 17 points with five assists and three rebounds.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Betting Preview
Over on the Louisiana side, they could only win three of their first 14 games this year. Next came losses to South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Texas State and App State over the ensuing seven outings. After wins over Georgia State, Georgia Southern, James Madison and Central Michigan came losses to Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion for a 9-18 run through 27 games.
Matched up against Arkansas State on Thursday, the Cajuns were trailing by three points at halftime. Louisiana didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 43-29 run in the second half and ended up taking a loss on their home court 79-62 as the game concluded. Both Jaxon Olvera (four rebounds; two assists) and Dorian Finister (three rebounds; two steals) had a tea-high 18 points.

Texas State vs Louisiana Prediction
I’ll stick with Texas State. The Bobcats had a close call against a good South Alabama team this week, eventually powering out a 90-82 victory in overtime on the road. Texas State shot 48.3 percent from the field in that one with a 36-22 rebounding advantage but also got outscored 42-26 in the paint and gave up 54.5 percent shooting on defense. The Bobcats have won seven straight games now, scoring 72 or more points in each of those.
These teams last met up back on January 14 in a 59-54 home victory for Texas State. In that matchup the Bobcats shot a very nice 50 percent from the field with a 32-19 rebounding advantage and a 38-16 edge on points in the paint. Texas State held Louisiana to just 36.2 percent from the field but the Cajuns made a few more 3-pointers and free throws than the Bobcats which kept the game relatively close. I’d like to see a little bit more of an aggressive effort on offense from Texas State in the road rematch, but it should be an interesting matchup regardless.
