St. Thomas-MN Tommies Betting Preview
The Tommies posted a pretty nice run out of the gate this year, winning 15 of their first 19 games. St. Thomas-MN would lose two of the next four versus North Dakota State and North Dakota, though. After that came a 4-1 run featuring wins over Kansas City, South Dakota State, Oral Roberts and Kansas City again. That would give the Tommies a 21-7 record in 28 games this year.
In the rematch versus Kansas City on Valentine’s Day, the Tommies were sitting in the locker room with a 43-29 advantage. St. Thomas-MN kept it going in the second half with a 61-35 run and took the blowout victory on the road in the end 104-64. Nolan Minessale was the top scorer with 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Ben Oosterbaan had 17 points with six boards as well.
Denver Pioneers Betting Preview
Over on the Denver side, they managed a .500 run over their first 14 outings, then lost seven of the next 10 games with wins over only UMKC, Oral Roberts and UMKC again. After that came a 3-1 run with wins over North Dakota State, North Dakota and South Dakota State ahead of a loss to Omaha. Over the first 28 games of the season, Denver sported a 13-15 overall record.
Matched up against South Dakota on Thursday the Pioneers held a modest 37-34 edge going into the second half. Denver got it going from there on a 53-36 run and powered out the dominant win 90-70 in the end. Tops in scoring was Carson Johnson with 32 points and three assists. St. Thomas-MN vs Denver Prediction
I’m going to take a stab on Denver but it’s a coin flip. The Pioneers rolled right past a middling South Dakota team in their last outing thanks to a nice second half. Denver hit 46.8 percent from the field in that one with 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from outside and 92 percent (23-of-25) at the line. Most importantly, the Pioneers had zero turnovers. Denver has four wins in their last five games, scoring 76 or more points in each of those outings.
Back on January 4 when these teams last met up, the Pioneers took a tough road loss 92-88. In that game Denver posted a nice 49.1 percent shooting from the field and 86.7 percent (26-of-30) at the line. The Pioneers weren’t outplayed on the boards or in the paint but did see the Tommies hit 13 of their 33 attempts from 3-point range (39.4 percent). If Denver can stay competitive in the home rematch they should be in good shape.
