Eastern Michigan Eagles Betting Preview
It’s been an up-and-down campaign for the Eagles so far. Eastern Michigan started out at 3-2 with losses to Pitt and IUPUI among wins over Georgia State, Detroit and Oakland. Another 3-2 run came over the next five games with losses to Louisville and Butler. the wins were over Cincinnati, NJIT and Cleary University otherwise, giving the Eagles a 6-4 overall record across their first 10 outings of the season.
In the Cleary University matchup on Friday, the Eagles came out of the break with a 44-23 edge. Eastern Michigan closed on a 42-25 run from there and took the win in the end 86-48. topping the scorers was Godslove Nwabude with 14 points and nine rebounds. Addison Patterson had 13 points with seven rebounds and four assists in the winning effort for Eastern Michigan as well.
Fort Wayne Mastodons Betting Preview
Over on the Fort Wayne side, they kicked off their season with a rough 2-5 run. The only wins in that time were over Dominican IL and Boyce. Otherwise it was losses to Grand Canyon, Ohio State, Western Michigan, Utah and Saint Louis. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with a lone loss to Oakland amid wins over Chicago State, Holy Cross College IN and Northern Kentucky. In total that gives Fort Wayne a 5-6 record across 11 games so far this season.
In the Northern Kentucky game on Saturday, the Mastodons were trailing 44-29 in the locker room. Fort Wayne got it going from there on a 50-33 run though, taking the eventual victory 79-77 in the end. Tops in scoring was Corey Hadnot with 25 points, four rebounds and four assists. Eastern Michigan vs Fort Wayne Prediction
I’ll stay with Eastern Michigan. The Eagles didn’t have too much trouble with Cleary in their last outing, shooting a nice 48.5 percent from the field with 48 rebounds and 52 points in the paint. Eastern Michigan wasn’t spectacular from 3-point range (6-of-23 for 26.1 percent) or the line (14-of-22 for 63.6 percent), however. That said, EMU has now held opponents to fewer than 57 points in each of their last three wins.
As for Fort Wayne, they get credit for a nice comeback win at home over a good Northern Kentucky team in their last outing. The Mastodons were out-rebounded 32-29 and coughed up 17 turnovers along the way, but shot well on 49.1 percent from the field. This will be another tricky matchup for Fort Wayne and I don’t think they’ll quite make a cover.
