They were sitting at 24-1 back on February 13, but then lost their next game to Rhode Island. Next came a win over VCU and another loss to Dayton for a 25-3 overall run this year.

Matched up against Dayton on Tuesday the Billikens were sitting in the locker room with a 44-28 deficit. Saint Louis didn’t make much progress in a comeback effort during the second half, hitting a 34-33 run on the way to a tough loss on the road 77-62. Kellen Thames was the top team scorer in the losing effort with 24 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

I’ll lean toward St. Louis. The Billikens need to bounce back here after a slow first half in the loss to Dayton this week. Saint Louis ended up shooting just 40 percent from the field and 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from outside in that one, along with 15 turnovers. The Billikens are just 1-2 in their last three games, with both losses coming on the road.

Back on January 20 when these teams last saw each other, the Billikens were able to power out an 81-77 win on the road. In that game Saint Louis shot very well on 49.1 percent from the field and held the Dukes to just 34.8 percent on defense. Saint Louis had a 36-28 advantage on points in the paint but did get beaten on the boards 40-35 and coughed up 16 turnovers. I like Saint Louis to get a nice home lift in the rematch.
