AR-Pine Bluff vs Baylor Prediction
I’ll probably just end up sticking with Baylor. The Bears looked decent against an overmatched Northwestern State in their opener, shooting 48 percent from the field with 31 percent (9-of-29) from outside and a 49-35 rebounding edge. Baylor did cough up 16 turnovers and went a rocky 16-of-29 from the line though, so it wasn’t perfect. The Bears have another comfortable home game ahead of them here, and should be able to control things from the opening tip. It will be a nice warm-up before seeing Texas and Alabama this month.
As for AR-Pine Bluff, they had the misfortune of opening up on the road versus a good Arkansas team this week. The game went just about how you’d expect, with the Lions shooting just 39 percent from the field and getting out-rebounded 43-27. ARPB committed a whopping 24 turnovers and allowed 55 percent shooting on defense. This one will be a comparatively easier matchup, but not by a whole lot.

AR-Pine Bluff Golden Lions Betting Preview
Last year the Lions failed to hit the .500 mark overall but still made a big step ahead from the season before. AR-Pine Bluff went 13-19 on the season with a 10-8 run in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. That result would put the team around the middle of the standings, but further up than anticipated in the preseason. ARPB hit the skids at the end of the regular season on a 2-5 run and lost in the first game of the SWAC Tournament versus Southern.
In their opener versus Arkansas on Tuesday, the Lions had a daunting matchup at Bud Walton Arena in front of nearly 20,000 fans. AR-Pine Bluff ended up losing that one badly 106-61. Leading the team in scoring was Jalen Tatum with 16 points, six rebounds and six turnovers.
Baylor Bears Betting Preview
Over on the Bears’ side, they took a step back last season from a 20-win run in 2024-25. Baylor went 17-17 overall with a rough 6-12 result in the Big 12. The Bears landed ahead of only Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Utah with that record. Baylor lost to Arizona State in the first game of the Big 12 Tournament, then beat Minnesota in the opening game of the CBI. Baylor would fall to Oklahoma in the next game, however.
This year, the Bears have one game in their bag so far. Baylor played Northwestern State back on Monday at Foster Pavilion in Waco. The Bears didn’t have a whole lot of issues in that one during an 87-65 victory. Topping the scorers was Brett Decker with 17 points and one rebound, and Kayden Mingo with 17 points, seven boards and two assists. Leading the bench scorers was Isaac Williams on eight points with four assists and two boards.
