Chicago State Cougars Betting Preview
Needless to say, it’s been a rough campaign for the Cougars this year. They’ve done better over the last few games, though. Chicago State lost to Loyola, Youngstown State, Texas, San Francisco, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, Radford, Drexel, Wisconsin, St. Thomas MN, Saint Louis, Mercer, Grand Canyon, Cal State Northridge, and Illinois in their first 15 outings before finally getting a win over Wagner. a 1-5 run came next with losses to LIU, Stonehill, Fairleigh Dickinson, Stonehill again, and Central Connecticut (with a win over Le Moyne). Since then Chicago State has beaten Long Island U and Mercyhurst ahead of a loss to St. Francis PA. That gives the Cougars a rough 4-21 overall run through their first 25 outings this year.Â
In the St. Francis PA matchup on Saturday, the Cougars came out of the locker room with a one-point deficit. Chicago State didn’t get any closer in a 39-28 second half and lost 81-69 in the end. Gabe Spinelli had 23 points with four rebounds and four assists in the loss, while Jalen Forrest had 17 points with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 35 minutes.Â
Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Betting Preview
Over on the Fairleigh Dickinson side, they didn’t start out the season well at all themselves, however, they’ve been better since early January. The Knights lost to Miami, Creighton, Nebraska, Army, Saint Peter’s Fairfield, Fordham, Villanova, La Salle, Minnesota, and Boston College across their first 15 games of the year. since then Fairleigh Dickinson is 6-4, however. The losses in that time came versus St. Francis PA, Central Connecticut, Mercyhurst, and Central Connecticut again. Otherwise, it was wins over Wagner, Le Moyne, Chicago State, Stonehill, Le Moyne again and Wagner, giving the Knights a 10-15 overall run so far this year.Â
Matched up against Wagner in the home game Saturday, the Knights entered the second half with a 28-28 tie. Fairleigh Dickinson closed on a 41-30 run however, eventually taking the win 69-58. Bismark Nsiah led the team with his 18 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in a stat-sheet-filling effort. Terrence Brown added 12 points with four assists and three boards, while Dylan Jones had 11 points with three rebounds of his own.Â

Chicago State vs Fairleigh Dickinson PredictionÂ
I’ll take a stab at the Cougars here. Probably not touching this one in reality, though; there’s not a lot to like about it. In any case, Chicago State didn’t shoot too badly (44.6 percent) in their latest loss to St. Francis PA. The problems stemmed from the 54.5 percent allowed on the other side and the 36-24 rebounding deficit.Â
These teams last played each other back on January 20 in a 58-48 road win for the Knights. Fairleigh Dickinson owned the boards in that one 42-28 (14-8 offensive) but also coughed up 20 turnovers for 17 Cougars points. Chicago State shot just 34.4 percent from the field themselves, so there’s plenty to clean up. That said, if the Cougars can control their mistakes, hit the boards, and focus on high-percentage shots, I could see them powering out a cover.
