UConn Huskies Betting Preview
UConn has had a couple of spotty runs this season that have kept their record from potentially being as good as it could be. The Huskies won their first four games before losses to Memphis, Colorado, and Dayton in succession, then hit a winning streak over Maryland Eastern Shore, Baylor, Texas, Gonzaga, Xavier, Butler, DePaul, and Providence. Since then UConn has posted a sketchy 4-4 stretch. Those wins came versus Georgetown, Butler, DePaul and Marquette. Otherwise, it was losses to Villanova, Creighton, Xavier, and St. John’s at that time. The result so far has been a 16-7 overall run in the record column for the Huskies this year.Â
In the St. John’s matchup back on Friday, the Huskies came out of the break with a two-point deficit. UConn didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 31-27 second half and took the loss 68-62 in the end. Leading the starters’ scoring for the Huskies was Solo Ball with 13 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Liam Mcneeley came off the bench for a double-double (18 points; 11 rebounds) as did Taris Reed (12 points; 15 rebounds).Â
Creighton Bluejays Betting Preview
Over on the Creighton side, they’ve had a couple of spotty runs as well but overall aren’t doing too badly. The Bluejays won their first four games before losses to Nebraska, San Diego State, and Texas A&M in succession. After wins over Notre Dame, Kansas, and UNLV in the next three, Creighton hit a 2-3 run with wins over Villanova and St. John’s among losses to Alabama, Georgetown, and Marquette. Since then Creighton has been cooking with a winning streak versus Butler, Providence, UConn, DePaul, Seton Hall, Xavier, Villanova, Providence, and Marquette in succession. That gives the Jays an 18-6 record through 24 games so far.Â
Matched up against Marquette over the weekend, Creighton hit a 43-36 advantage in the first half. The Bluejays kept it going from there on a 34-31 advantage and took the victory 77-67 in the end. Leading the scoring was Steven Ashworth, posting 22 points with seven assists and one rebound. Second was Ryan Kalkbrenner with 19 points, seven rebounds, and one assist. Jamiya Neal chipped in 14 points with six boards and four assists as well.Â

UConn vs Creighton PredictionÂ
I’ll try UConn in this one. You could make a case either way, though. This should be a great matchup. That said, the Huskies really need a bounce-back performance following their latest loss to St. John’s. In that one UConn shot just 39.2 percent from the field and missed eight of their 22 free throws (63.6 percent) The biggest gaffe, however, was the 22 turnovers for 18 Red Storm points.Â
The last time these teams met up back on January 18, the Huskies took a 68-63 loss at home. UConn didn’t shoot too badly in that one (44.8 percent) but also gave up 47.9 percent to the Jays with a 28-25 rebounding deficit. With Creighton being on such a great run, this road rematch is going to be especially tricky. Provided the Huskies play to their capabilities though, I think they can make a good run at it. Should be a fun one to watch at least.Â
