La Salle Explorers Betting Preview
The Explorers kicked things off on a solid run this year, winning their first four games. Those victories came courtesy of American, Lafayette, Cornell, and Drexel. La Salle recorded their first loss on Thursday versus UC San Diego 72-67, though.
On Friday versus UIC, the Explorers fell back into the loss column. La Salle was outscored 48-39 in the first half, then didn’t get any closer on a 48-44 run from there for a 96-83 result. Deuce Jones led the team with 21 points and four assists in the losing effort.
Stetson Hatters Betting Preview
Over on the Stetson side, they were able to win their opener 94-75 over New College of Florida, but it’s been all losses since then. The Hatters fell to Omaha, the Citadel, Oklahoma, and Toledo over the next four games.
The L’s continued to pile up on Friday versus East Carolina. Stetson took a six-point deficit into the second half and didn’t get any closer in an eventual loss of 71-64. Topping the team in the defeat was Mehki Ellison with 15 points and three assists.
La Salle vs Stetson Prediction
I’ll most likely stay with La Salle. The Explorers haven’t quite been themselves over the last couple of games, and they’re coming off another rough loss. The good news is that La Salle shot 50 percent from the field on Friday versus UIC. The bad news is that the Explorers were out-rebounded 37-26 and allowed 52.8 percent shooting by the Flames. Still, La Salle should match up quite favorably with Stetson. If they can’t notch a decisive victory Saturday the Explorers are in real trouble.
Speaking of Stetson, they shot pretty well (45.5 percent) from the field on Friday but hit just 14-of-25 (56 percent) from the line and got blitzed on the boards 39-28 alongside 18 turnovers. Even if the Hatters clean up their act I don’t see them competing very well with La Salle.
