Lafayette Leopards Betting Preview
The Leopards are coming off a fairly middling year in 2024, with a rough result in Patriot League play. Lafayette ended up at .500 overall with a 6-6 run, however they went just 2-4 in conference matchups. Still, the Leopards finished smack dab in the middle of the pack in the standings, ahead of Georgetown, Fordham and Colgate but behind Lehigh, Holy Cross and Bucknell with a fourth-place landing. Lafayette had some troubles with consistency in the win column, as they weren’t able to win more than two consecutive games (doing so twice). The good news is that the Leopards won two of their last three versus Colgate and Stonehill before a loss at Lehigh in their final outing of the year.
Lafayette will get head coach John Troxell back for his fourth year at the helm in 2025. Troxell will be joined by offensive coordinator TJ Dimuzio and defensive coordinator Mike Saint Germain, each in his fourth year at the respective positions. The Patriot League is looking like a two-way race at the top of the standings, but Lafayette could potentially move up a spot or two from last season’s finish.
Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview
Over on the Bowling Green side, they fared slightly better overall in 2024, and much better in conference play. That said, the season was a bit of a disappointment as Bowling Green landed in fourth place among the standings behind Miami-OH, Ohio and Buffalo. The Falcons would ultimately go 7-6 in all of their games and posted a respectable 6-2 run in the Mid-American Conference schedule but it wasn’t enough to overtake the top performers. Bowling Green did earn their way to the 68 Ventures Bowl versus Arkansas State on December 26, but ended up falling in that one 38-31 to finish the campaign on a down note. Still, the season featured a few highlights, such as a five-game win streak and six victories over seven games in the middle of the schedule.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Falcons will turn over a proverbial new leaf with the coaching staff. Head coach Eddie George steps into the role for his first season, and he’ll be joined by rookies Travis Partridge (offense) and Brandon Fisher (defense) in the coordinator roles. They’ll have to deal with a healthy amount of turnover in some key positions, including outgoing transfers QB Justin Lamson (Montana State) and RB Terion Stewart (Virginia Tech). Bowling Green will bring in a hefty transfer class of their own however, including no less than five players from Tennessee State—George’s ex-employer.

Lafayette vs Bowling Green Prediction
I’ll probably lean toward Bowling Green here, but I’m also probably not touching this one. It’ll take a few games before we know what we have in George and his new team, but if all goes well the Falcons should be able to do a bit of damage. Sure, there are some gaps in the offense now that three of the biggest contributors from last season are gone (standout TE Harold Fannin being one of those) and thus we’ll get a new look at QB. The offensive line remains largely intact however, as four of the five starters from 2024 have returned. This should be a good spot for the offense to shine in their season debut.
