Jalon Daniels is Back for Kansas
After dealing with back injuries for most of the season last year, quarterback Jalon Daniels is back and healthy, and this is a team that believes they can compete for the Big 12. In the backfield, Kansas has one of the best running backs in college football in Devin Neal. Last season, Neal was sharing carries and he still finished with 203 carries for 1,280 yards and 16 touchdowns. Logan Brown is healthy now and the former five-star recruit is going to help improve the offensive line.
On defense, Kansas has one of the best secondary’s in all of Big 12 led by Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson. The secondary is going to be elite, but the defensive line lost a lot of talent from last year. Craig Young is now on the Indianapolis Colts, and not having him this season is a big loss. Kansas will face Illinois following this game.
Why Kansas Will Beat Lindenwood
- Kansas has won seven of its last eight games against non-conference opponents.
- Kansas has covered the spread in five of its last six home games.
Lindenwood Continues to Transition to FCS
Lindenwood is continuing the transition to FCS level and there have been some major growing pains. Last season they finished with a 3-7 record, but they do have 14 starters back from last year's team. Lindenwood has brought in some transfers, including Reece Thomas who is a transfer from Kansas. Quarterback Nate Glantz played at McNeese State and he also has transferred in. The best player on offense is Jeff Caldwell and last season he led the team with 599 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in only nine games. A big problem for the offense is they don’t have a set quarterback. Glantz is expected to compete against Carter Davis for the job.
On defense, they are more experienced and the defense should probably be the strength of this team. Kobe McLendon was an All-Conference defensive end last season, and he’s going to need to be a difference-maker here. Lindenwood will meet Central Arkansas after this game.
Lindenwood vs Kansas Prediction
Kansas is going to put on a show here. Jayhawks coach Lance Leipold has made it clear that they aren’t going to hold anything back. Jalon Daniels is going to have a huge game here, and the Lindenwood defense, even though they might be improved are going to have some struggles here. The Kansas secondary is going to create at least a couple of turnovers and they are going to end up cruising to the victory here. Lindenwood might not even get on the board. Back the Jayhawks against the spread here.
