Golden State Warriors Betting Preview

Unlike many teams in the summer league, the Warriors don’t have a lot of recognizable faces, and it makes them hard to judge going into a game. We’re aware of Marques Bolden and Isaiah Mobley, who have played in a combined 41 NBA games. However, there are no standouts on this roster. LJ Cryer had a productive college career at Baylor and Houston, and Blake Hinson scored a lot for the Santa Cruz Warriors. Chance McMillian was just an All-Big 12 selection and is efficient from the field. While a breakout or two would be nice from this group, there’s just not a lot piquing my interest with this Warriors roster. Oddsmakers agree, judging by the spread of the first game.

The Lakers are always a popular team in the summer league for obvious reasons, and there are two key players on this year’s roster worth watching. The second year of Dalton Knecht will be key for the Lakers, while you’d like to see Bronny James dominate at this stage. Seeing Knecht and Bronny take that next step is crucial for the future of the Lakers. Trey Jemison III is also on this Lakers roster, and he played 22 games for them last season and has 14 career NBA starts. In terms of lesser known players, Augustas Marciulionis is a two-time WCC POY and TY Johnson was a scoring machine at UC Davis. Cole Swider has become a bit of an NBA journeyman with stints of the Lakers, Raptors, Heat, and Pistons. On paper, the Lakers have a combination of youth, talent, and guys eager to earn a role in the NBA.

The Lakers are getting the love from oddsmakers for obvious reasons. The Lakers have a nice summer league roster and guys who could earn playing time if they perform well. as previously mentioned, the Warriors roster is a bit underwhelming and not a single player who is guaranteed to see legit NBA minutes this season. With all of that said, this is still summer league and laying more than six points feels a bit rich. This is also still the home team, so that matters as well, as the fans will get behind this group. The line is a bit too steep. Give me the Warriors and the points.
