The Bulldogs’ year has gone pretty well so far at 4-1. Samford opened with a 100-58 blowout win over MS College but then took their first loss in a close one 88-86 versus Cornell. The next pair were both wins, 108-52 versus Rhodes and 97-96 against North Alabama.

I might try Samford here. The Bulldogs have had a couple of close finishes so far but overall they’re looking pretty good. Samford has hit 86 or more points in every game, with 97 or more in all four wins. The Bulldogs managed a nice 47.2 percent shooting in the Texas Southern win, but did get out-rebounded 43-32 along the way.

As for Michigan State, they started out pretty slow against Bowling Green but eventually powered out the win with 45.8 percent shooting. The Spartans had a big advantage on the boards 44-28, so Samford is really going to have to get aggressive on the glass—or just make a ton of shots—in order to keep a cover pace here. I think the Bulldogs will pull it off.
