Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

In their weekend series, the Tigers had some trouble with the Los Angeles Angels. Detroit lost the first three games of that set 5-0, 5-2 and 6-5 before halting the sweep on a 7-6 Sunday victory. On Tuesday versus the Twins, the Tigers took a 5-3 loss. Starter Tarik Skubal had 6.0 innings with three earned runs.

In the starter role for Wednesday’s game, the Tigers are going with Jack Flaherty. So far this year Flaherty is 5-5 with a 3.24 ERA in 15 starts. Flaherty has a 47-39 career record with a 3.69 ERA in 146 games (140 starts).

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

Over on the Twins’ side, they took on the Seattle Mariners in their last set. After a 3-2 loss Friday, Minnesota came back with wins 5-1 and 5-3 to take the series. In the Tuesday game, the Twins came back from a 3-2 deficit quickly on the way to the victory. Simeon Woods Richardson managed 5.2 innings and three earned in the starter role.

David Festa will take the mound for the start on Wednesday for the Twins. In his lone start this year (the first start of his career) Festa went 5.0 innings with five earned and two Ks.

Detroit Tigers vs Minnesota Twins Prediction

I’ll stay with the Tigers. Flaherty does need a better outcome than his last start, however. On June 27 he gave up five earned on seven hits and a walk during a loss to the Angels. Prior to that however, Flaherty was 2-0 with 10.2 innings and just one earned on eight hits and three walks over his previous two starts.

On Tuesday the Tigers had one big inning but otherwise faltered offensively on five team hits. The bullpen wasn’t great either (2.0 innings; two earned); it was an all-around rough day. Detroit needs a good bounce-back in game two.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Detroit Tigers -105
