In this article, we will formulate a Cardinals vs Braves prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, April 23rd at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The St. Louis Cardinals are 10-14 this year after they split the first two games in this series by scores of 6-7 and 10-4. In the game two win, the Cardinals trailed 4-2 in the fifth, but they scored the final eight runs in the game for the win. St. Louis recorded 12 hits and they committed two errors in the game, while they were led by Nootbaar and Gorman, who both had three RBIs in the game. St. Louis started Pallante, who allowed seven hits and four earned runs over 4.1 innings, while Matz pitched 2.2 innings and picked up the win.

Prior to this series, the Cardinals lost all four against the Mets, but did win two out of three against the Astros before that. St. Louis has lost five of their last six games, and they are currently fourth in the NL Central standings. The St. Louis pitching staff has a 4.36 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a .232 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 119 runs with a .266 batting average and a .336 on-base percentage this season. Lars Nootbaar has led St. Louis with four home runs, 14 RBIs, and three stolen bases, while Brendan Donovan has added three home runs and 13 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for St. Louis is Miles Mikolas, who is 0-2 with a 7.64 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP over 17.2 innings pitched this season.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Atlanta Braves are 9-14 this year after they lost game two by a score of 10-4 on Tuesday night. Atlanta erased an early 2-0 lead, and they led 4-2 in the fifth, but they fell apart in the later innings for the blowout loss. The Braves recorded eight hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Verdugo, Riley, Olson, and Murphy, who all had one RBI in the loss. Atlanta started Blewett, who allowed four hits and two earned runs over 3.0 innings, while De Los Santos and Wiles allowed three earned runs each in the loss.

Prior to this series, the Braves swept the Twins in three games, but lost two out of three against the Blue Jays before that. Atlanta has won four of their last five games, and they are currently last in the NL East standings. The Atlanta pitching staff has a 4.54 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and a .246 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 88 runs with a .232 batting average and a .311 on-base percentage this year. Austin Riley has led Atlanta with six home runs and 16 RBIs, while Ozzie Albies has added four home runs and 11 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Atlanta is Bryce Elder, who is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP over 15.0 innings pitched this year.

Cardinals vs Braves Prediction

St. Louis was able to snap their losing streak with a big win on Tuesday night, but they are just 2-10 on the road this season. Atlanta is 7-3 at home, and they have scored at least six runs in three of their last five games. Both of these pitchers come into this matchup with some ugly numbers so far this year, and I think both lineups will have plenty of success here. I do think Mikolas has a slight edge, but I like the over here.

David Racey's Pick: Over 8.5
