The Line: Carlos Alcaraz -1111 / Casper Ruud +640
Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud meet in the group stage of the 2024 ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. The match is scheduled for Monday, November 11, 2024. Here’s our Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud prediction. This preview will also contain a Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud pick.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud Preview
Carlos Alcarazis contending for the ATP Finals crown for the second year in a row. His first participation was in 2023 where he made the semifinal and lost Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
This season, Alcaraz has been in great form despite missing a few important tournaments along the way because of a forearm injury. He’s won 55 matches across all levels and lifted two Grand Slams.
The Spaniard, however, lost his spot at the World No. 2 to Alexander Zverev. Alcaraz lost in the third round of his most recent tournament in Paris-Bercy to Ugo Humbert.
Casper Ruud was a late qualifier at this year’s ATP Finals. He returns after a one-year absence. Ruud is a former runner-up at the season finale (lost to Djokovic in 2022). It would be a major surprise if he manages to reach the championship this week.
The Norwegian has lost his last four matches on indoor hard courts.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud Head-To-Head
• Carlos Alcaraz leads Casper Ruud 4-0 in their head-to-head.
• They haven’t played each other since the 2023 China Open in Beijing.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud Prediction
The odds couldn’t be any bigger for Casper Ruud, but it doesn’t look like he can spring a surprise here against one of the tournament favorites. His form has been dreadful for a while, with just two wins since the US Open. Alcaraz, by contrast, lost shockingly to Humbert at the Paris Masters in what was his last official practice tournament for the ATP Finals. Still, this is a match I would expect the World No. 3 to dominate with his aggressive and flashy shotmaking. He’s also had Ruud’s number in this matchup. So, look out for the Spaniard to close this one rather routinely.
