In this article we will formulate a Spain vs Cape Verde prediction for this World Cup game on Monday, June 15th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this World Cup matchup.

Spain Betting Preview

Spain comes into the World Cup ranked 2nd in the latest official FIFA rankings and they are coming off of a 3-1 win over Peru in their last match. In that win, Spain led 2-0 at halftime and 3-0 in the 53rd minute, but did allow a goal in the 66th minute in the victory. Spain recorded eight total shots, two shots on target, and had 62% of the possession. Spain has played three other friendlies this year: a 1-1 draw with Iraq, a 0-0 draw with Egypt, and a 3-0 win over Serbia.

Spain has qualified for 16 World Cups and they have one championship, which came in 2010. Spain has made the last 12 World Cups and they have made at least the Round of 16 in eight of the last ten. In 2022, Spain defeated Costa Rica 7-0, drew Germany 1-1, and lost to Japan 2-1 in the Group Stage, before losing to Morocco in penalties. In qualifying, Spain finished first in their group with 16 points, which was ahead of Turkey, Georgia, and Bulgaria.

Cape Verde Betting Preview

Cape Verde comes into the World Cup ranked 67th in the latest official FIFA rankings and they are coming off of a 3-0 win over Bermuda in their last match. In that win, Cape Verde led 1-0 at halftime and they added two more goals in the second half in the shutout. Cape Verde recorded 28 total shots, 14 shots on target, and had 75% of the possession. Cape Verde has played one other friendly this year, which was a 3-0 win over Serbia.

Cape Verde has not qualified for the World Cup prior to this tournament, so they will be making history here. In qualifying, Cape Verde won their group with 23 points, which was ahead of Cameroon, Libya, Angola, Mauritius, and Eswatini.

Spain vs Cape Verde Prediction

Spain comes into this matchup as one of the best teams in the world, while Cape Verde is making their World Cup debut. We saw Curacao make their debut on Sunday and while they did score a goal, they were dominated by Germany. Spain wasn’t overly impressive in their friendlies this year, but they should have no problem scoring in this one. Cape Verde will try to counter attack to get their first goal, but I expect an easy win from Spain in this game.

David Racey's Pick: Spain -2.5
