The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out at the Xfinity Mobile Arena on Thursday night.
Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Preview
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be hoping for a deeper run this time round after winning 52 games last season to secure the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, only to get swept by the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavaliers didn’t make a lot of trade moves outside of the signing of Mario Hezonja and acquiring Peyton Watson, but they did move on from Dean Wade, Max Strus, Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis. Expectations are high for this franchise as they already recommitted Donovan Mitchell and James Harden.
Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers must have been eager to show what they can do with their revamped roster and they certainly did that with a gritty 106-100 road win over the Knicks on Tuesday. Tyrese Maxey led way with a team-high 28 points with five assists, three steals and three blocks, Jaylen Brown added 19 points with eight rebounds and six assists, LeBron James tallied 14 points with nine rebounds and seven assists while Joel Embiid chipped in with 13 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. As a team, the 76ers shot 42 percent from the field and 11 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and had to claw their way back from an early 10-point deficit in the second quarter, before they clamped down defensively and restricted the Knicks to just 18 points in the third quarter to build a nine-point lead which proved to be just enough to hold off a late rally from the defending champs. shooting from the field for the game.
Cleveland v Philadelphia Free Prediction
The Cavaliers are still missing Nae’Qwan Tomlin and Khalifa Diop with Jarrett Allen also listed as questionable, while the 76ers have ruled out Tacko Fall with Dean Wade listed as questionable. The Cavaliers will be eager to kick off their season with a bang and a matchup with LeBron James and the 76ers is a great chance to make a statement right away. The 76ers looked great in their gritty win over the Knicks as they got the job done despite a poor shooting night as a team. We’ve yet to see the Cavaliers hit the floor but you know they will be up for this occasion given the opponent. An upset win by the Cavaliers wouldn’t really surprise me at all, but the 76ers would have taken plenty of confidence from their win on opening night and I think they can build on that with their first home win of the season.
