Washington Nationals Betting Preview

Over the weekend the Nationals took on the Miami Marlins. Washington lost the first game 6-3 but came back for wins in the next three outings. In the Monday opener versus the Mets, the Nationals took a 2-1 loss in 10 innings. Starter Jake Irvin logged 7.1 innings with one earned run.

The starter for Tuesday’s game will be Mitchell Parker. This year over the first 27 starts of his career Parker is 7-9 with a 4.24 ERA.

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they played the Philadelphia Phillies in their last series. New York won 11-3 Friday then fell 6-4 and 2-1 in the remaining games. On Monday the Mets posted six hits in the walk-off win. Sean Manaea put up 7.0 innings in the start with one earned run.

It’ll be Tylor Megill in the start for the Mets on Tuesday. This season Megill is 3-5 with a 4.48 ERA in 13 games (12 starts). Megill is 20-21 with a 4.67 ERA in 71 career games (64 starts).

Washington Nationals vs New York Mets Prediction

I might try the Mets here. Megill had a spotty outing versus Boston on September 4 with 4.0 innings and three earned runs. In the other two of his last three, however, Megill is a combined 1-0 with one earned in 11.1 innings. As for Parker, he’s coming off 6.1 clean frames versus Miami but was spotty in his pair prior to that (9.1 innings; seven earned).

On Monday the Mets got a key RBI from Starling Marte to springboard off a great pitching performance. The bullpen went 3.0 innings with one hit, no walks, no earned, and four Ks. I like New York to keep it up Tuesday behind Megill.

Andrew Jett's Pick: New York Mets -162
