The Nationals took on the Atlanta Braves over the weekend and did pretty well. Washington lost the first game 5-2, but then came back for wins 2-1, 7-3 and 8-5 in the remaining three games for a series victory. Starter DJ Herz put up 4.1 innings with two earned in the Sunday game.
For the starter gig in the Tuesday matchup the Nationals will send out Mitchell Parker. This year in his rookie campaign Parker is 4-3 with a 3.47 ERA in 10 starts. He’s got 45 Ks in 57.0 innings total.

Washington Nationals vs Detroit Tigers Prediction
I’ll stick with the Tigers. Probably not touching this one, though, Maeda didn’t last long in his latest start, exiting after only two pitches due to abdominal discomfort. Prior to that Maeda had given up five earned on eight hits and two walks in 4.2 innings during a loss to the Red Sox on May 31, so he’s in need of a bounce-back effort.
As for Parker, he hasn’t been too bad lately with eight earned runs in 19.0 combined innings over his last three starts. If both starters are on point, this should be a pretty fun matchup. I like the Tigers to eke out a win, but it’s a coin flip.
