The Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs meet on Tuesday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Texas Rangers vs. Chicago Cubs prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Texas Rangers will send out Patrick Corbin for the start here, and Corbin was 6-13 with a 5.62 ERA and 139 strikeouts last season for the Nationals. In his last five starts against the Cubs, Corbin is 0-0 with a 5.53 ERA and 23 strikeouts. Jameson Taillon will get the start for the Cubs and is 1-1 with a 6.97 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season. In his career, Taillon is 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

Texas Rangers Recap

The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to bounce back from their 7-0 series-opening loss at the hands of the Cubs last time out to sit at 8-3 on the year. After this series, the Rangers will head on the road for a set against the Seattle Mariners.

Rangers Have Five-Game Win Streak Snapped

Wyatt Langford leads the Rangers with 8 hits, including 3 home runs, while Adolis Garcia has 6 hits with a team-high 3 doubles, a pair of home runs, and 4 RBIs. Jonah Heim also has a pair of home runs as well on the year, while Marcus Semien has the dubious distinction of leading Texas with 12 strikeouts up to this point in the year.

Texas Rangers vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction

I’m on the over in this one. This starting pitching matchup screams runs early and often for me here, as Patrick Corbin was one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball last season, and Jameson Taillon has not gotten off to a very strong start to this season in his own right. I expect a bounce-back outing from the Rangers offensively here, but I also think the Cubs’ bats will show up to play once again as well, so give me the over in this one.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Over 7.5
